One of the best acting jobs and movies I have ever seen. How much do you want to bet that if BBT wasnt a... nah, I dont want to upset you, but I personally think he would have gotten 2 more Oscars for that if he was a member of the club. Dude wrote that, starred in it, and directed it, as an unknown guy for any of those. I think John Ritter(RIP) helped him get his foot in the door, and he rewarded John by giving him the one thing he always wanted, to play a serious role...a Ritter(along with pretty much the whole cast) sure as heck delivered.

BBT explained how he was able to deliver his message to an audience who otherwise wouldnt have been interested by not letting them know what the movie was actually about. Maybe one of the funniest dramas of all time? American Beauty(about a year later) was another one I'd describe in the same way. Not sure if I recall any quotes as memorable though.

To quote another Slingblade line (after he tells his new boss at the repair shop he likes the french fried pertaters)... "Yeah.......me too". Not to be crude like you guys, but I am not sure how else to say this... Brad Pitt got BBT's sloppy seconds...who would have predicted that before it happened?

I also at the time thought it was kind of cool that they wore a vial of each other's blood on a necklace. It goes to show that even a goy can hit a grand slam in Hollywood, but you actually have to be very good like him or Russell Crowe, etc. BBT is kinda like Tom Brady, reminding us that things we never dreamed were possible can come to pass given the right circumstances and drive.

Actually, I found the line I was talking about...right near the very end of the clip...and the subtle humor on the line after it(the boss's reaction to it...expression, at least) is a classic too in my opinion. This is the Buffalo Bills of movies, to me: (much beloved, but didn't get the the multiple Oscars it deserved....just 1 for best original screenplay, but I think even Dwight Yoakum could have been nominated for his supporting role...the movie is worthy of the term EPIC)

Stallone did rocky 20 years before slingblade. Lots of projects got done before slingblade .

Honestly, I am tempted to write a post in the real forum about how good this movie was, and how BBT showed how you can show so many differences in people without the tired recipe of making it about race or gender. For that alone, the movie was monumental.

Man, I am suddenly respecting your tastes. You're alright, "you tuning son of a bitch!", lol.

Sincerely, I think this would be a cool Range get together event..."A screening of Sling Blade". :)

Ah, you’ll get pissed at me next time I bust you’re balls. Sometimes I play devils advocate with you to try and temper your views, and you get mad.
