    ROR Trade

I liked ROR. I don't like to see him go, but I respect that his time in Buffalo was over and this is a necessary step in the process to move the Sabres forward. The return was solid and if there was ever a "Hockey" trade, this is it.

Looking ahead, who is next? This team is still deficient on the wing - or maybe they are considering giving some of the younger players a chance to shine.

    Top 6 forwards:

    Eichel C
    Mittelstadt C

    Reinhart
    Okposo

Then who are your next 2?

    Sheary?
    Rodrigues?
    Pominville?
Does a Pu, Pekar, Olofsson, Bailey, Baptiste make the squad?

Is there another move that gives the Sabres a scoring winger?

Ugh, I hated this trade. Two vets that are marginal additions and Tage is a 3rd liner at best. Maybe the picks turn into something but I thought the idea was to get immediate help from this move. Dont see how they did that.

It is tough seeing a player like ROR go, but we'll see how that goes.

The Sabres suddenly have a bunch of centers. Maybe Botterill will flip Befglund or Sobotka. Hell, he didn't draft Girgensons, maybe he can get something for him.

Paul Hamilton speculated the Sabres lines looking like this:

    Sheary Eichel Reinhart

    Thompson Mittelstadt Okposo

    Rodrigues Berglund Pominville

    Wilson Girgensons(Larsson) Sobotka

    Scandella Ristolainen

    Dahlin Bogosian

    Guhle Nelson

    McCabe Hunwick

    Beaulieu

Blimey. There's a hockey forum? I had no idea-- or maybe I did but never thought of visiting.

By the way, I really like the colour scheme and layout.

I probably won't be able to contribute anything beyond this post, since I haven't actually watched a hockey game since the 90s. Is Dave Androchuk still playing? How did that young Russian defector work out? Alexander-or-something Mogilney? And is Scotty Bowman still coaching? What about Rick Jenneret, the Canadian play-by-play announcer? Still alive?

Hm, guess I'm hopelessly out of touch and behind the times. Maybe I'd better stick to discussing politics and, when it gets closer to the season, the Bills.

Apologies for the intrusion. By the way, it's nice to see this forum apparently uncontaminated with political discussion, even if I'm one of the political culprits myself on the main board-- or, as Wagoncircler once put it so succinctly, "one of the political maggots."

    How true it is.

You are literally the only person to ever complain about having too many centers.

How can anyone look at that and not be excited?

The top line is good for AT LEAST 80 goals if they all stay healthy and match their normal production.

Then you have a 2nd line thats a question...A 20+ Goal guy in Okposo and two hih upside rookies. I see no reason why Thompson and Casey wont combine for 35 or more...

Then a third line with a proven 20 goal scorer in the middle of two guys who pace for 15+ over the course of a season.

    And a typical Fourth line.

Just on that projection alone this team is going to score MUCH more this year.

The other story is the D. How many 2 on 1's were there last season? How many times did the D get stuck in their own zone? Should be better all around, and possibly a lot better.

they got two solid nhl caliber contributors, a center pospect with half an nhl season. and two high picks. seems like an average return, nobody fleeced nobody
