    Smarter

    http://www.wgr550.com/articles/news/...er-hockey-team

"When teams are pushing and we're under siege, we have to create our own push back. Right now we're accepting too much of the push. We have to face the fact that every team is a hard working team, you know they're trying to win a hockey game as well."

I have to say, and I hope I'm right, that the bolded section above is why they are having a hard time. For years they played a defensive style of hockey. Now they are being asked to "push back" and they are trying to learn how to do that. Thoughts?

    oh definitely

think about all the shorties. theyve been trying to play his defenders always in offensive mode style and they havent learned yet when to make that defensive transition. they are getting caught out of position as a result

and yeah, so far they look soft. they arent rebounding well from mistakes or bad bounces. i can see why sam got essentially demoted bc he has very little fire. seems like most of the team is playing that way.

i think its really just trying to get familiar with their system and being hesitant due to that unfamiliarity. you would think they would get that straightened out soon, assuming phils system is a viable one. you would think it is, given some of the success hes had as an assistant hc. so hopefully its just a matter of time before they gel. hopefully

I agree that it's an issue of learning how to play the system and will take time. But system or not, hitting, drive, and effort are system neutral and I'm not seeing very much leadership on the ice. Maybe it's Time to start rotating some youth into the lineup to remind all about effort and drive.

Throw the Body, build some identity. Sell out on the 2 on 1, dive, freakin whatever- just don't allow that pass.

4 games out west might be the perfect opportunity. Settle, focus and get away from all the negatives of opening week

The good sign is how competitive Rochester is this year. At least there's now depth to build on.
And why is Moulson still on this team?

Why is Reinhart still starting, he is minus 7 and shows no heart.

I just think he's lost at center. Now that he's back on the Wing I'm hoping he finds his mojo.

I am pleased with Girgensons/Eichel/Pomminville. They seem to be developing some good chemistry and producing.

It's the O'Reilly/Okposo/Kane line that's really concerning. Maybe Okposo needs to play on the third and bring some more speed up (Reinhardt?). The line doesn't seem to be able to keep up with Kane.
