Nets, Gerald Wallace agree to deal

The Brooklyn Nets reached a verbal commitment with swingman Gerald Wallace on a four-year deal worth $40 million, according to sources close to the process.

The Nets have been openly confident in their ability to re-sign Wallace, who opted out of the final year of his contract last month with the intent of staying with the Nets.

No new contracts in the NBA can be officially signed until July 11, but sources told ESPN.com that Wallace -- originally expected to land a three-year deal worth $24 million -- will instead land the four-year deal.

Wallace opted out of the $9.5 million he was originally scheduled to earn in 2012-13 on June 15 to proceed to free agency.....

Howard is out of his mind if he honestly thinks he is going to sue his way into FA'cy. He looks like a straight clown right now

If you didn't want to be in Orlando then you should have told them last year and they would have moved you.

If Im Orlando I tell Howard right now I honestly don't give a shit what you want or where you want to go and if you want to sue by all means go for it because I guarantee my pockets are far deeper

He's saying they didn't follow through on promises that they made to get him to re-sign. Sucks for him, I don't see this working out well for him.

Knicks up next on the Nash hunt

It would require a S&T and the Suns are open to it apparently

Like I said before I think a lot of teams, GM's, and players are sensing that the #2 spot in the East playoffs is wide open this year. These teams are going hard after players and are willing to make bold moves

Boston looks like they are getting the band back together, don't blame them, you could argue they were A.Bradley away from the finals this year and now they have young reinforcements in the middle

Knicks get a point guard like Nash and they will be REAL tough

Nets are looking to throw it all together chasing Williams, trying to trade for J.Johnson, and already re-upping Wallace. They get Howard or a PF and they are a whole new team

lot of interesting stuff going on in the East right now

Rockets have reached agreement with Omer Asik on a three-year, $25.1 million contract, league source tells Y! Sports.
That's a lot of money. Will Chicago match?

I would, Personally i think the Rockets may have miscalculated

    The deal goes 5,5,15

They should have added on a 4th year

In the final year of that deal we are going to amnesty Boozer and Dengs 13 million comes off the books. It also a valuable trade piece because its an expiring 15 million dollar deal and the player will still have value, thats a rare combo.

Now whether the Bulls see it that way, I don't know. If its me Im matching it or threatening to match it unless a S&T can be worked

You can also make the argument that Boston barely got passed Philadelphia. They can get them back together but it doesn't change the fact that they looked exhausted. Age showed itself last year. That's a lot of old stars with big contracts, that's a dangerous gamble.

Thats the kicker though, there contract situation has drastically improved to the point where they can bring everyone back they had last year and still add a J.Terry or a OJ Mayo

From the media and radio Ive seen id say its still 50/50

They will likely use every last second to decide for nothing else but to keep the rockets in limbo

There is a couple options they can do with the contract to make it not as bad in the third year

Also a S&T is still a possibility because if they do one it means the offer can be changed to 8,8,8 which I'm sure the Rockets themselves would prefer

I'm not allowing myself to get excited about Steve Nash and the Knicks. It'll be like the Chandler signing, I won't read into the rumors until something real happens.

Quick question Merk... I'm pretty sure this is BS considering the source I heard it from (RealGM message boards)... but is it true that Tom Thibodeau is not returning calls from your FO regarding a contract extension?

Who knows, the Bulls always have issues when it comes to coaching contracts. He was there today though with the introduction of Teague

you know Chris B makes a great point about Howard and the Nets

Howard is threatening to be a one and done everywhere but the Nets. However the Nets may not have the room for him because they are being aggressive now and it looks like they are not going to wait on him and I doubt the team he plays for next year is going to help him out with a S&T

He may be overplaying his hand

Would you guys bring back DiAntoni as well? lol

How do you guys think Melo would mesh with a guy like Nash, who needs the ball in his hands. Would Melo be able to learn how to play off the ball?

I have no idea how that would go... couldn't begin to guess. Nash/Melo/Amare would be a pretty odd group, all love the ball in their hands.

    1. Regarding what Fin said, Nash makes EVERYBODY better. But yeah, I don't know how well he'd mesh with Melo.
    2. I don't see any way the Suns would agree to a sign and trade unless Jeremy Lin is involved. Landry Fields, Jerome James, and other crap is nowhere near enough to get it done. Or at least I'd think it's highly unlikely to happen. And Fields and Lin would have to agree to go to Phoenix.
