Anyone going to the home opener tomorrow? Betances, a top Yankees prospect, is going to be making the start for SWB.

I can't, but my best friend will be throwing out the first pitch with his newborn for the year of 2012. They are having people that were born in each of the years the ballpark was open throwing a first pitch. He and his son were 2012, pretty cool.

Doesn't sound like the weather is going to be too nice though.

The Buffalo Bisons get a huge comeback victory today 10-9 in 10 innings over the Pawtucket Red Sox. The Buffalo Bisons are now 5-6 in third place in the IL North 4 games back of division leading Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Buffalo Bisons are improved over last season but they need to play better in the field of play with the glove. Also the Buffalo Bisons so far leave too many men on base in scoring position also. A hit here and there and the Buffalo Bisons would 7-4 or 6-5 in my opinion. It's early yet I know but the Buffalo Bisons need better glove work in the field and some more timely hits in my opinion.

The positives I really like Wally Backman the Buffalo Bisons current manager the best manager in my opinion the Buffalo Bisons have had with the New York Mets as a PDC. I like that the Buffalo Bisons are more agressive on the base paths that you rarely saw with Ken Oberkfell and Tim Teufel teams in Buffalo in my opinion. Let's Go Buffalo

The Buffalo Bisons are now 12-10 on the season 3 games out of first place Pawtucket Red Sox in the IL North Division and only 1 game out of the IL Wildcard Playoff spot held by Lehigh Valley IronPigs. Same two teams saturday at 1:05 at Coke Cola Field. Let's Go Buffalo

The Bufalo Bisons lose Bobby Scales to Japan and get back Vinny Rottino from the New York Mets today. Good for Bobby Scales but bad for the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion. Bobby Scales was a good table setter for our 3, 4 and 5 men he will be missed in my opinion. I was a little surprised by Japan for Bobby Scales because they seem to like power hitters like Mike Hessman and Valentino Pascucci types.

Plus the way Bobby Scales was hitting you would think someone in MLB would take another look at him for the majors. But also maybe Bobby Scales saw no advancement with the New York Mets with all the call ups like Vinny Rottino, Jordany Valdespin and Bobby Scales was still here so who knows. Best of luck to Bobby Scales. Let's Go Buffalo

With the Buffalo Bisons loss tonight at the Durham Bulls 6-5. The Buffalo Bisons after that great early season start are now 38-37 on the season 7 games out of first place in the IL North Division to the Pawtucket Red Sox and 6 games out of the IL Wildcard. It isn't looking good in my opinion. By no means are the Buffalo Bisons done for this season but there in trouble. Wally Backman has done a outstanding job with this group of players but too many New York Mets injuries still 4 years later and just not enough depth makes me wonder where the Buffalo Bisons go in the future with there PDC?

My thoughts with the start of the season was well the Buffalo Bisons look good so maybe there is a chance the New York Mets stay for two more years. But one thing always struck me with this years group of players was they weren't that talented compared to some of the other IL North clubs that it was Wally Backman's managing and being real aggressive which I like and have been calling for for over three years with Ken Oberkfell and last season Tim Teufel both horrible managers in my opinion to laid back waiting for the three run homer that never usually came often that was the difference with Wally Backman being aggressive and winning this season.

The starting pitching was decent but when the Buffalo Bisons got to the 4 and 5 pitcher it was shakey in my opinion. Wally Backman to me got everything that the Buffalo Bisons can give but there just isn't anymore to give with the lack of depth. Losing Bobby Scales to Japan hurt the Buffalo Bisons badly in my opinion plus all the call ups by the New York Mets because of injuries from the Buffalo Bisons like Vinny Rottino and Omar Quintanilla that also hurt us badly in my opinion. Some Buffalo Bisons fans and Buffalo media say the Toronto Blue Jays but the Toronto Blue Jays in Las Vegas with the Las Vegas 51's are 42-32 4 games out in the PCL Southern Division. New Hampshire Fisher Cats are a mess in double a Eastern League last place in the Eastern Division at 26-45 so I don't see the Toronto Blue Jays as a better answer for the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion.

The New York Mets double a Eastern League team the Binghamton Mets are in fourth place in the EL Eastern Division at 34-37. So I don't know what the answer is maybe some other Buffalo Bisons fans here will have some ideas? Toronto to me along with there history in Syracuse Chiefs of 30 years of mostly poor teams plus today teams leads me to say stay away from the Toronto Blue Jays in my opinion. I think the Buffalo Bisons may have no choice but to sign another two year PDC with the New York Mets and hope for the best that the Wilpon family maybe deciding to spend some money on the New York Mets down the road so there not always reaching into Buffalo leaving the Buffalo Bisons with no depth. Even through the history for four years says other wise I admit that for the Buffalo Bisons.

Wally Backman I don't see back either way in Buffalo next season because he is too good of a manager to be at this level in my opinion he reminds me of Billy Martin as a manager. I see him next season either as a MLB manager or taking a coaching position in the big leagues that he was offered last season by the Washington Nationals in my opinion. Wally Backman in my opinion has nothing more to really gain or prove to MLB by continueing to manage in the minors in my opinion.

Hopefully the Buffalo Bisons can stop alot of the losing that is suddenly happening and make a run at the IL Wildcard. Pawtucket Red Sox I think with win the IL North Division too many good players on that team in my opinion. I was hoping for the IL Wildcard and a chance in the five game IL Playoff to meet the Pawtucket Red Sox where maybe the Boston Red Sox possibly call up alot of the Pawtucket Red Sox star players in September but that isn't looking good now on the Buffalo Bisons end in my opinion. Let's Go Buffalo

The Blue Jays have a very good farm system with a ton of prospects. Las Vegas is 42-32 and they got off to a bad start. They have made up a ton of ground on Fresno and Sacramento. Plus they have already placed their 2 single a teams in the playoffs. You can't look at the Blue jays past troubles in Syracuse because they have decided to build up their farm system. They spend the money on player development already that you hope the Mets will.

The Blue Jays have the best farm in baseball (arguably) right now. Them and the Padres.

But the thing is if the Toronto Blue Jays are the answer for the Buffalo Bisons then why haven't they won in years on there triple a teams? See I understand some Buffalo fans and media want to bash the New York Mets but I don't see the Toronto Blue Jays as a upgrade either it is more a downgrade money wise in my opinion. Some want to think the Toronto Blue Jays could be potentially like the Cleveland Indians years in Buffalo but I don't see it today at all. As for single a the New York Mets have had good teams in Brooklyn and St. Lucie also and that didn't mean they were successful in triple a Buffalo so why would Toronto Blue Jays be any better with there single a players?

So what it comes down to for me is money. In Toronto there is money there but a fan base in Toronto lukewarm with baseball at best in my opinion which hurts the Toronto Blue Jays overall. You can't spend what you don't have. Buffalo fans might counter that is your opinion so what Buffalo Super Fan. Well when you read that the Toronto Blue Jays are confidentially talking about playing a series in Montreal in the next few years like what the Buffalo Bills are doing with Toronto at Olympic Stadium where the Montreal Expos use to play that to me opened my eyes about how bad revenues most be falling at the gate for the Toronto Blue Jays.

Toronto will never be New York City in baseball. Toronto tv deals will never be like SNY Network either in my opinion. Same with merchandise sales etc. So what I am saying is Toronto to me could be fools gold that looks good because some Buffalo Bisons fans and media don't like that the New York Mets haven't put a IL playoff club in Buffalo in four years. But I would be very careful with Toronto if I am the Buffalo Bisons.

The other thing that concerns me with Toronto is in my opinion they need Buffalo more then we need them in Toronto. What do mean Buffalo Super Fan Toronto is huge Buffalo is just a little small market city? Think Buffalo Sabres Rochester Amerks and what happened to the Rochester Amerks attendance and hockey market in the past decade. The Buffalo Sabres with there bigger budget and marketing took potential Rochester Amerks fans and basically made them Buffalo Sabres fans through more money and marketing plus cable tv. Now with the Toronto thank goodness Buffalo doesn't get the Toronto Blue Jays tv games on our cable system everynight like Rochester did with the Buffalo Sabres that is the only difference I see with this example I am making. Make no mistake the Toronto Blue Jays will be ok without Buffalo but if they ever want to complete long term with the bigger market New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox in spending on players they need Buffalo as part of there market to sell ticket and increase ticket revenue sales today.

So yes Buffalo is in the opposite situation we don't really need Toronto baseball wise because Buffalo is a minor league market and there is enough income and advertisement dollars in Buffalo to adquately support International League baseball basically forever in my opinion. Any MLB PDC would pay the pay of the future Buffalo Bisons players with who ever the Buffalo Bisons sign with. But with the Toronto Blue Jays as PDC the Buffalo Bisons could risk losing some of there fans to the Toronto Blue Jays in my opinion marketing hard like the Buffalo Sabres did in Rochester to suck the future Buffalo Bisons fans to Toronto to become potential Toronto Blue Jays fans. Even if the Toronto Blue Jays got 500 to 1,000 Buffalo Bisons fans it would hurt the Buffalo Bisons IL in my opinion. That is why I have never been hot about the idea of having the Toronto Blue Jays as a PDC because reality Toronto isn't a very good baseball town and are stuck in a outdated basically Mall like Rogers Centre in my opinion that is half empty on most nights with high ticket prices. If I am the Buffalo Bisons if it is between the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays I take the safer PDC New York Mets that won't try to poach Buffalo Bisons fans to Toronto in my opinion more then what already goes up there for New York Yankees games in Buffalo already today.

It is sad that the New York Yankees aren't available because there the only ones I would say would make a difference in Buffalo Bisons attendance going up wise if they were our fulltime PDC. But the Buffalo Bisons present attendance level is adquette for IL baseball middle of the pack in IL attendance no need to risk that bringing on the Toronto Blue Jays attendance problems and PDC baggage in my opinion. So I would recommend if my only two choices are the New York Mets or Toronto Blue Jays I would vote for New York Mets staying loyal to the state were in New York if there was a vote.

I just don't need Toronto screwing up Buffalo Bisons baseball like they did Buffalo Bills football with one game a year and not cheering for the Buffalo Bills embarrassing from where I sit. I realize why the Buffalo Bills do that money because it is neccessary for Buffalo to keep major league NFL football but the Buffalo Bisons IL Minor League aren't in that position and proabley will never be to have to beg Toronto and embarrass Buffalo dignity anymore then already has been done with the Toronto Bills Series. I guess I rather take my chances with the New York Mets and have some dignity left of not selling my sole and everything Buffalo loves and enjoys to Toronto sports corporations. Buffalo Bisons baseball is Buffalo's for the fans of Buffalo not to be some outpost for Toronto Maple Leafs Sports and Rogers to use Buffalo anymore then it does today with the Buffalo Bills.

I am one that really believes the way MILB and MLB are set up the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Cleveland Indians anyone of those three cities the way they support MLB baseball today and what is really needed to pay MLB players today and in the future would have a better chance to go bankrupt and moved before the Buffalo Bisons in the IL and MILB set up in my opinion. MILB merchandise setup around the country have gone up yearly so the Buffalo Bisons don't need to panic in my opinion with the Toronto Blue Jays. Because with the Buffalo Bisons even with only special nights and friday night games being well attended in Buffalo that is all that is needed to survive in the minors when the MLB PDC is picking up most of the salaries in my opinion.

That is why Buffalo Super Fan at times worries about NHL hockey in Buffalo compared to let's says AHL hockey in Buffalo. Sure the attendance is bigger in major league sports but so is the player expense and travel. You can lose money fast and I bet Terry Pegula already has the way the Buffalo Sabres played last season with no NHL playoffs. The Buffalo AHL team would have mostly eastern travel and could survive forever in a city like Buffalo same with the Buffalo Bisons IL baseball. How long are the Cleveland Indians going to survive in Cleveland with 15,000 a night? Same deal with higher attended Pittsburgh and Toronto with low attendance. MLB is getting more and more expensive and the cost go up yearly. So keep that in mind Buffalo Bisons fans about not getting caught up into something way worse in Toronto then just not making the IL playoffs with the Toronto Blue Jays money woes in my opinion. Just because Toronto is loaded with corporations doesn't mean baseball is in solid shape up in there in Toronto in my opinion. Atlanta has tons of corporations too but how are the Atlanta Thrashers doing today?

Fans get my point you need fans at the gate and that is what the New York Mets have. New York City is the largest city in the United States and one that has alot of wealthy business and individuals do the Buffalo Bisons really want to give that up the New York Mets because of four non IL playoff season for the Toronto Blue Jays? I say no there is to great of a risk for Buffalo Bisons baseball in Buffalo to do that. A PDC with the New York Yankees yes do it but for the Toronto Blue Jays no and since the New York Yankees aren't available the next best thing is the New York Mets in my opinion resign the PDC with the New York Mets. Money never sleeps just remember that Buffalo fans. At the end of the day I am a Buffalo Bisons fan with the Toronto Blue Jays or the New York Mets but it doesn't mean I have to like a Toronto Blue Jays PDC because I would rather Buffalo keep some dignity and not sell it's baseball sole to Toronto because what your getting in my opinion isn't anything special but maybe some money just like the Buffalo Bills Toronto Series. Let's Go Buffalo

I know Roc_to_SD_BillsFan very long post but I am a huge fan of Buffalo Bisons baseball my favorite Buffalo team if I had to pick only one. I don't think the Toronto Blue Jays organization is best for the Buffalo Bisons over the New York Mets like alot of Buffalo fans and Buffalo media members seem to think. I had a choice which I don't the Buffalo Bisons would be independent but MLB doesn't allow that anymore that I know off where the Buffalo Bisons could just buy our own Valentino Pascucci and Mike Hessman's and that would be it. But cost would also be a problem one because the Buffalo Bisons would loss profit margin of the MLB PDC team paying for the players because the Buffalo Bisons pay a percentage to MLB and the PDC this case the New York Mets. I believe that is how it works.

But believe me I am a huge Buffalo Bisons and have thought about Independent Baseball League's outside MLB farm system's like the Atlantic League for Buffalo with teams mostly based in Long Island, New Jersey and now Houston, Texas because to me as a Buffalo Bisons fan it wouldn't matter the level where the Atlantic League is between Double A and Triple A level of play atleast it is ours to root for as long as Buffalo doesn't embarrass itself with begging the Toronto Blue Jays for anything. Because the reality is the Toronto Blue Jays are not going to do Buffalo any favors that any other PDC wouldn't do in my opinion. It is potentially more trouble then it is worth going with the Toronto Blue Jays. To me it is selling Buffalo's sports soul to a huge Toronto sports corporation in Rogers for money in my opinion. Let's Go Buffalo

I see it the oppsite way with Toronto. I really think they want out of Las vegas so bad that will do whatever it takes to put a winner in Buffalo. The Bisons wouldn't be begging for anything. The Blue jays would be doing the begging. Honestly what happens with the Bisons doesn't impact me as much anymore because I moved to Omaha in April, but I still want what is best for Buffalo and that is not the Mets. For example, the mets send up a scrub pitcher like Mark Cohoon to Buffalo, yet leave Zach Wheeler and his 1.88 era in Binghamton. What exactly does Zach Wheeler have left to prove in double-A? Oh well at least the Mets haven't left the Bisons 4 players short like the past 3 seasons.

billsfan69 I understand what your saying but Toronto is still going to have plenty of options back in the eastern base IL like Rochester Red Wings for one which in my opinion who will dump the Minnesota Twins PDC because there even worse then us in my opinion. Two in Minor League Affliated baseball there are no guarantees a PDC can be made with keeping players on a farm team today in my opinion Buffalo is basically at the call of the PDC in affliated farm system baseball. It just can't be done today in my opinion anymore. That is why if it was my call and I owned the Buffalo Bisons like Bob Rich who is worth over 2 billion dollars with Rich Products I would think about giving up some money with profit margin on the Buffalo Bisons with leaving the International League and Affliated MLB farm system baseball for the Independent League No Affliation with MLB for the Atlantic League with no affliate at all where the Buffalo Bisons would sign there own players like the Buffalo Bandits NLL.

Here is my choice of the Independent Baseball League I would choose for the Buffalo Bisons and it would be like the Buffalo Bisons are major league because we would own all our own players. The level would go down some that Bryce Harper opportunity would be gone but that happens rarely anymore in the IL and Buffalo missed Bryce Harper in Buffalo by a few days anyway. Most of the prospects like that are at the lower minor league levels like the Eastern League and then if there talented they spend either none or little time at triple a anymore because on money in my opinion. The Washington Nationals need the gate attractions more then the Syracuse Chiefs see what I mean. The Buffalo Bisons in my opinion would be better served in the Atlantic League with no MLB mandates about what they can and can't do.

It won't cost like MLB Baseball franchise in Buffalo and Buffalo is certainly big enough to support Independent level of baseball in my opinion. Everyone that cares about the Buffalo Bisons winning games here consistantly would make this choice in my opinion. Would Buffalo Bisons attendance go down yes it would because some go to see the other MLB prospects so you will lose that type of baseball fan but there not coming alot anymore anyway and the Buffalo Bisons winning consistantly with a better on field product controling our own teams destiny each year like recruiting players in college would bring a new type of fan one that likes to see the hometown team win more in my opinion. So Buffalo Bisons fan that is all about MLB prospects they will lose but the Buffalo Bisons will gain the Buffalo fan that actually cares about the Buffalo Bisons being successful yearly in my opinion. Where it isn't about the New York Yankees or Boston Red Sox etc but about the Buffalo Bisons.

    Long Island Ducks-Central Islip, NY
    Southern Maryland Blue Crabs-Waldorf, MD

    Future Atlantic League franchises
    Loudoun Hounds-Dulles, VA

The Buffalo Bisons with the Buffalo market as a whole is large enough to survive in my opinion in Atlantic League baseball. I mean if a market like Winnipeg smaller then Buffalo's can survive with the Winnipeg Goldeyes Independent League team in the American American and has been doing fine for years Buffalo certainly can make it in the Atlantic League.

I think that way Buffalo Bisons could sign a Darryl Strawberry or a Rickey Henderson type on the down side of there MLB careers that have played in Independent baseball. Most salaries are $500 a month for the 5 month season May through September. The Independent League season is better because it starts in May when it is nicer weather in Buffalo anyway and goes more into September with longer playoffs because Indy Baseball isn't under MLB rules with September 1 callups.

The real reality in my opinion is no PDC is really going to make much of a difference because in my opinion Buffalo is tiring of Minor League baseball with the Buffalo Bisons having no control with on field product and it shows at the gate. Independent Baseball would take Buffalo in a minute and Buffalo would in my opinion dominate Indy Baseball because of Coke Cola Field and income it brings to bring in the best you can buy player wise for Indy Baseball like the Buffalo Bandits do because the Buffalo Bandits have the lacrosse players in large supply with canada close but also Buffalo has the money because of 15,000 average gate every game at First Niagara Center from Buffalo Bandits fans in my opinion.

There is nothing in my opinion changing with leaving the New York Mets PDC for the Toronto Blue Jays PDC other then new Buffalo Bisons uniforms and caps to sell next season if the choice is the Toronto Blue Jays. I don't expect IL Playoffs or anything different with the Toronto Blue Jays I actually think it will be worse. And yes I do think Toronto would also be more of a mistake then the New York Mets because they have less money then the New York Mets even with them having the New York Yankees in New York also the New York Mets are still better off in my opinion then the Toronto Blue Jays money wise.

So I don't see the Toronto Blue Jays going out of the way for signing players for Buffalo because that has never been there thing in Syracuse or Las Vegas so why is Buffalo any different? What the Buffalo Bisons have are three choice that are logical for the Buffalo baseball market in my opinion one the New York Yankees but that is out because they bought Scranton so that isn't happening. Two go Indy Baseball that should happen in my opinion Buffalo's best choice for consistant winning but it won't happen because that to me isn't a Bob Rich type of thing not the best for profit margin. Plus it hurts Buffalo Bisons team value when the Rich Family potentially ever goes to sell the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion in the future so Indy Baseball isn't happening sadly for the Buffalo Bisons fan that cares about winning.

But I bring up Indy Baseball because it is Buffalo best chance for winning yearly in my opinion. Three will mostly likely happen either the New York Mets or Toronto Blue Jays and at this point I don't really care who the PDC is anymore because either way Buffalo isn't going to have any control winning wise and both organization aren't much of a choice for winning compared to the Independent Atlantic League in my opinion for the Buffalo Bisons. But whatever happens I will always be a Buffalo Bisons fan no matter how many games the Buffalo Bisons win or lose. Just telling you like it is which the Buffalo sports media has no courage to write or talk about because they basically don't care, on the take for freebies like free food, tickets etc and are just to lazy to begin with in my opinion. Let's Go Buffalo

The Bisons would fail as an independent team. Fans in the Buffalo area want a baseball team that if not major league is at least affiliated with a major league team. An independent Bisons team would draw 1000 fans a game because quite honestly minor sports and that is what an indy team would be do not do well in Buffalo. Look at Buffalo college teams that don't draw squat. And in reality you need to get over the Toronto history in Syracuse because they have made the committment to build up their minor league system. You know their third place Las Vegas team? They would be leading the IL North with the record they have. And the Mets do not have more money than the Blue Jays. The Wilpons damn near had to sell the Mets because of their involvement with Bernie Madoff. Oh and i have attended Independent league games and trust me the Bisons would not be close to major league. They would just be paying their own players. The Bandits are successful because in their early years they won alot and also drew in new fans who gave lacrosse a chance and found it to be a fun time.

First as I have said Independent Baseball is the only way outside of a major league team in baseball where you can control your chances for winnning that isn't debateable that is a fact. There is no PDC where that will happen in farm system baseball. Two Atlantic League baseball in good level of baseball plus Buffalo with our great baseball stadium for Independent baseball, Buffalo would get all the best players and the level would be good in my opinion for a Independent League team in Buffalo.

Comparing UB and the MAC to the Buffalo Bisons IL now or potentially Independent League baseball in Buffalo isn't the same here because one Buffalo isn't much of a college sports town and two UB doesn't have facilities that match up well with the rest of the MAC for football. The Buffalo Bisons have the facilties that isn't a problem. UB football wise is playing in a stadium built for track and field for the World University Games. Plus UB lacks a football field house for recruiting so that is apples and oranges of why they don't win and draw.

The truth is UB could potentially dominate the MAC in football yearly in my opinion if UB got serious about making a fulltime commitment to athletics at UB when it comes to facilties building on the MAC level. So the UB Bulls comparing to the Buffalo Bisons IL isn't a good example in my opinion because UB can control winning at the MAC level but choose not to for whatever reason in my opinion. At UB it can start by firing that poor football coach in Jeff Quinn that is completely over his head in my opinion in the MAC. But because of budgets with UB and being cheap Jeff Quinn proablely will get one more year beyond this season before UB just doesn't offer Jeff Quinn another contract in my opinion.

If it was me Jeff Quinn wouldn't been hired in the first place at UB and at the very least should have been fired after last season oh well nothing more to say there as a UB Bulls football season ticketholder for two decades. But to say that the UB Bulls problems with winning are more fixable with controling winning then the Buffalo Bisons in farm system baseball in my opinion. UB Bulls I really believe can be a major player yearly in the MAC level of football and basketball if more money was spent by UB on facitilities at UB for athletics in my opinion.

I don't post on here all the time about UB if I didn't believe that. I never went to UB but I believe UB has the money to be a player on the MAC level but choose to go the cheap route of in my opinion basically just getting by in the MAC. UB winning in the MAC in 2008 might not have helped that thought process at UB in my opinion. Because UB can say see we can win this cheap way in my opinion. Think Larry Quinn and Tom Golisano when they owned the Buffalo Sabres with the way things are run at UB for division I athletics in my opinion. With the difference being atleast I as a Buffalo Bulls fan only pay $42 for the season for my season tickets to Buffalo Bulls football for 6 home games poor Buffalo Sabres season ticketholders are paying alot more then that for 42 games plus preseason. And as a Buffalo Sabres fan my heart goes out to them even though today they got lazy Derek Roy finally trade so atleast they have some comfort tonight. But Lindy Ruff and Darcy Regier should both be fired in my opinion here way too long and I will still stand behind that no matter what trades the Buffalo Sabres make in the future.

Now back on topic because when one mentions UB it get me going because I see so much wasted MAC potential at UB for athletics due to nickel and diming everything in my opinion athletics wise at UB. And even with Buffalo not being much of a college sports town if UB was a winning year in and year out UB would draw very well for the MAC in my opinion. As for how Buffalo would potentially draw in Independent Baseball is debateable. Buffalo is a bandwagon town like everywhere us. If you win they will come in my opinion. Buffalo loves a winner. If the Buffalo Bisons win alot year after year attendance will still be where it is today because sports wise what else is there to do in Buffalo in the summer. See with your example of UB in the fall there is alot to do sports wise.

In the summer in Buffalo with sports there isn't much until July with Buffalo Bills training camp. Anyway it is a moot point because Buffalo ownership won't go Indy route and it isn't because of attendance it is because of value of a affliated baseball team when it comes time if the Riches ever want to sell the Buffalo Bisons someday in my opinion. Affliated baseball teams are worth more money because you make more of a profit margin because the PDC pays for 85% of the salaries or so. But my point is a valid one the only two ways the Buffalo Bisons can control winning is with either Independent Baseball team or a major league baseball franchise nothing more. The way farm system baseball is set up today the Buffalo Bisons are at the mercy of the PDC parent team in my opinion.

As for the Toronto Blue Jays being in first in the IL North that is very debateable because IL and PCL baseball are apples and oranges too when it comes to style of baseball meaning PCL is a hitters league because of the air pressure with the altitudes of the air on the west coast. Where on the East coast and the IL it is a truer pitching and hitting league. Toronto Blue Jays I doubt very much there coming to Buffalo. Buffalo had a chance with Toronto for years and said no what has really changed? I personally think the Toronto Blue Jays are heading to Rochester in the IL with the midwestern Minnesota Twins being stuck in Las Vegas 51's of the PCL. The bottom line New York Mets are better for the Buffalo Bisons profit margin wise with SNY TV etc. Toronto Blue Jays games are not shown in Buffalo anymore and that is a big problem.

Plus all the other baggage that comes with the Toronto Blue Jays of a team that never shown they are interested in winning on the triple a level since they were started in 1977. How is Buffalo any different then Syracuse, Las Vegas etc? Leopards don't in my opinion change there spots and the Toronto Blue Jays are what they are just very cheap baseball organization. If the Buffalo Bisons do sign with the Toronto Blue Jays if I was the Buffalo Bisons I would get the money upfront to do the signings which you can't do that is how much distrust I have for the Toronto Blue Jays. So as a Buffalo Bisons fan you won't see me posting as a champion for the Toronto Blue Jays in Buffalo.

I know enough Syracuse Chiefs fans to know it was bad how the Toronto Blue Jays got kicked out of Syracuse one of the worst IL cities out there today besides Gwinnett in my opinion and Toronto still got kicked out to Las Vegas that says it all to me as a Buffalo Bisons fan of be very careful with the Toronto Blue Jays. I think even with the current losing the New York Mets will be the PDC resigned for the next two years in Buffalo because the bottom line no one PDC can promise winning in farm system baseball. Buffalo chances in my opinion are basically the same with the New York Mets and Toronto when it comes to winning so why change? There is no reason to change when the Buffalo Bisons make out advertising wise with the New York Mets for a unknown Toronto Blue Jays where advertising wise in my opinion the Buffalo Bisons would lose with things like the New York State lottery advertising during Buffalo Bisons tv games because of there relationship with the New York Mets and state in my opinion. That is big money potentially the Buffalo Bisons would be giving up with the New York Mets for maybe with the Toronto Blue Jays?

Look around Coke Cola Field more and more advertising to make up in my opinion for less Buffalo fans going to Buffalo Bisons games today. Either way I support whatever the Buffalo Bisons do because I am a Buffalo Bisons fan. I never cared about who the Buffalo Bisons PDC were since the Buffalo Bisons have been with Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and today the New York Mets in the Buffalo Bisons modern era. But what I am saying is I wouldn't count on the Toronto Blue Jays because in my opinion Toronto as a baseball town is alot closer to the International League as a baseball city then they are as a American League city today. You can add Pittsburgh and Cleveland also to that list of International League cities in my opinion with fan support and total interest in baseball. Let's Go Buffalo

Buffalo Super Fan, How about then getting the money up front from the Mets for players because for 4 seasons they have put total crap on the field. As for this so-called revenue stream that an affiliation with the Mets is, that is false. I know few people who give a crap about the Mets. Actually you can't even get Mets stuff in Buffalo stores, not because they sell out, but stores don't bother stocking it because nobody cares about the Mets. You don't trust the Blue Jays because of what they did to Syracuse and that is fine, but I am telling you they have a farm system that is very highly regarded now. And why would the Bisons relationship with New York State end if they kick the Mets out and honestly after this season it is going to happen. Are the Bisons moving out of New York State? You talk about the difference between PCL and IL and that is fine, but the top prospects the Jays have like Travis D'Arnaud would still be top prospects here.

When you get a chance read this article out today on yahoo Oakland minor-league coach banned after ordering intentional balks By David Brown. Then tell me farm system baseball cares about winning anymore? It is secondary at best to protecting the health of the up and coming MLB baseball players. A big part of it is the times we live it in my opinion were softer today as a society not at tough as we use to be and our athletics are following suit of societies wishes in my opinion. Minor leagur farm system baseball isn't in my opinion about winning anymore sadly which is what I have been posting and saying. Do I like it? No I think that way of thinking is all screwed up in my opinion. Winning and losing should matter in development for the minor leagues but for some organization it is secondary. I will never agree with that thought process but it is what it is in my opinion.

Now about the New York Mets and Toronto Blue Jays PDC. I wouldn't count on the Toronto Blue Jays coming to Buffalo I disagree with you because it is a money advertising thing in my opinion or the Toronto Blue Jays would have been here in Buffalo four years ago. In my opinion and that is all it is, is that the New York Mets was a business deal for the Buffalo Bisons plain and simple. And a very good one for the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion. I am not saying Buffalo is a New York Mets town that wasn't my point. What I am saying is since the New York Mets have come to Buffalo the Buffalo Bisons have way more in sign advertising on the walls and inside Coke Cola Field then at anytime in the history of the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion.

With the Toronto Blue Jays the Buffalo Bisons would have to see that equaled and with no ties to New York state and taking into account the Toronto Blue Jays are from another country Canada. I just don't see it from a money point of view in my opinion. What I am saying is yes the New York Mets are a business deal and a very good one in my opinion for Buffalo Bisons owner Bob Rich. Weather the Buffalo Bisons win or lose the Buffalo Bisons are still making in the teens percentage wise in profit. I got that from YES Network TV show with Sports Business from Forbes and it said that some minor league teams make teens percentage for profits and the Buffalo Bisons and Bob Rich's picture was on screen and one of the minor league teams I saw. I don't know if anyone else saw the show a few days ago? So what is the incentive for the Buffalo Bisons to switch PDC if that is true with profits like that? I don't see one from a business profits point of view in my opinion. The Toronto Blue Jays aren't anymore popular then the New York Mets in my opinion.

Other then the New York Yankees I don't see the Buffalo Bisons giving up the New York Mets ever really. Either way if the Toronto Blue Jays are in Buffalo or not I am a Buffalo Bisons fan either way. But my prodiction is the New York Mets will stay in Buffalo for another two season PDC at the end of the season. The only way the New York Mets would have to worry in my opinion if at some point the New York Yankees would become available because then the Buffalo Bisons would switch for profit margins gains in my opinion which would be obvious with the New York Yankees.

Also realize with the Toronto Blue Jays PCL team record there going against teams like the Oakland Athletics that are basically broke in my opinion. In the Buffalo Bisons IL North Division there opponents are Pawtucket, Lehigh Valley and Scranton-WB and they are the Boston Red Sox PDC, Philadelphia Phillies PDC and the New York Yankees PDC all big market high spending organizations like the New York Mets PDC with the Buffalo Bisons. So keep that in mind also when looking at IL records and PCL records. The AL East and NL East PDC are in the East where alot of the big spending MLB team are in my opinion. So yes it is a money thing in my opinon as one of the reasons not all of the reasons but part of it.

The Toronto Blue Jays have no more money then the New York Mets in my opinion. The Toronto Blue Jays have less and overtime the Toronto Blue Jays would not be good for the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion. Stay with the money of New York City baseball in my opinion would be wiser for Buffalo baseball because overtime the Buffalo Bisons will win more then with the Toronto Blue Jays PDC in my opinion. I realize the New York Mets have had a bad four years in Buffalo but considering the problems the New York Mets owners have had. I think overtime the New York Mets will come out of it and the Buffalo Bisons at some point will benefit from the PDC with New York Mets in my opinion. The New York Mets will start to get good up top and when that happens there be less call ups etc and the Buffalo Bisons will have a better chance to win in my opinion like what happened with the Cleveland Indians when they had Manny Ramirez and Jim Thome etc and there was no where in the Cleveland for the Buffalo Bisons players. When the New York Mets are fixed up top then the Buffalo Bisons teams will be more stable with call ups in my opinion for the Buffalo Bisons to have a better chance at winning the IL. Let's Go Buffalo

Look up the Mets record when they were in Norfolk at the same time the Blue Jays were in Syracuse. Their record was as bad if not worse. The difference is the Blue Jays have turned their farm system around. The Mets farm system still sucks. To me if the Bisons stay with the mets, it shows me they no longer care about winning which they used to, but care about money.

Bank on this: There WILL be a change in affiliation.

The Bisons aren't stupid; no doubt they've seen the putrid effort the team's put on the field over the last few seasons. The only reason Buffalo is doing even halfway decently this season is all of the minor league FA's the Mets signed and assigned to Buffalo.

Also: I don't think you'll EVER see the Bisons affiliate with the Yankees. Not in our lifetimes.

One more thing: The Atlantic League, or other independent leagues, as others have noted, would NEVER work here. Most of the cities that host them wouldn't be able to support an affiliated team at any level due to population. (Camden in the Atlantic League, however, does, as it acts as an alternative to the Phillies.) Look at the cities just in the Atlantic League alone...York and Lancaster, Pa....Somerset(in New Jersey)...Long Island...Bridgeport, CT...among other places, and it proves my point.

I wouldn't call totally collapsing in June as being halfway decent. Then again it is all relative to the previous three years of crap that the Mets put in Buffalo. To me it seems like the most successful triple-a teams, like the Bisons through most of their Cleveland years were a mix of good major league prospects and minor league free agents to fill in the weak spots. Teams like the Bisons this year that are loaded with minor league free agents end up getting exposed because their parent club is typically prospect weak and thus lack depth to withstand callups to the major leagues.

First I disagree with your view of Independent League it is growing look at Texas. Sugarland, Texas a Houston suberb is joining the Alantic League is bigger then Buffalo with a Houston metro of over 6 million people. Independent League is also in Saint Paul, Minnesota with a new ball park being build is bigger then Buffalo with a metro of over 3.3 million people for Minneapolis-Saint Paul. Bottom line cities and fans are tiring of MLB control freaks about everything and are looking at other independent leagues.

I understand Buffalo fans wanting to be affliated but with affliation your giving up control on winning that all I am saying. If I had the choice I would choose either the league St. Paul Saints are in or the Atlantic League and I have news for yeah Long Island Ducks draw over 400,000 and Long Island has way more money then Buffalo. Houses sell for 5 to 7 times or more what a average Buffalonians will get on a house. My aunt my mom's sister and my mom each had the same type of family home one on Long Island and one in a Buffalo suberb. My mom is orginally from Brooklyn, New York born and raised. One got $700,000 plus and one got $100,000 plus. I can tell you it wasn't my mom with a Buffalo suberb home that got $700,000 plus for what it is worth. Mom after hearing that wishes she stayed in New York City and convince my dad to move to New York City instead of her moving to Buffalo. I don't know what dad would have said because he had already passed away. But seeing the money he would have proabley agree with my mom.

So I agree to disagree with your point of population or money. The only one that makes out with affliated baseball is the minor league owners who doesn't have to pay more then 15% of the PDC player salaries with who ever there affliated with. I love Buffalo and the Buffalo Bisons but let's be realistic affliated baseball isn't about winning anymore and all about development. If anybody read that yahoo article about the Stockton Ports (Oakland Athletics PDC Single A team). Where the manager had the pitcher balk on purpose so the game would end quicker in extra innnings. The California League suspended the Stockton manager for a year to me he should be banned from baseball forever.

Because it controled a outcome of the game or fixed the game like WWE. This concerns me in the future where our sports society is going where everything in sports is less about competition and more and more about entertainment and not caring about winning and losing even the majors your see more and stuff that years ago never happened. I am not saying were all the way there yet but this type of thing that happened in the California League is a clue of the way coaches, management and players see the game going in my opinion. Where it is about entertainment, rock and roll and filling fans faces with food see the Rochester D&C and the Rochester Red Wings GM Dan Mason's quotes are terrifying if you care about results and the game. All I am saying is watch out because there are less of fans like us anymore and the other side in my opinion are winning. You see with the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fans were it isn't about winning for all of them anymore. For some it is about party time and no caring about results atleast we have a team in my opinion.

The Buffalo Sabres fans in my opinion represent the worse with some back the same failing coach and gm for 14 years. That is a example in my opinion of the Buffalo fan 50% just not caring anymore can I get some food and I have a team. Who cares if we win or lose. So it isn't just the Buffalo Bisons or a minor league thing to me it is a sports society thing and the sign of the times. Where Buffalo fans like myself are painted as dinosours and bitter fans for speaking up and telling the truth. No way Buffalo 30 years ago would have put up with a Buffalo Sabres coach and gm not getting it done for 14 years. The Buffalo Braves NBA went through three coaches in a year in the mid 1970's. If memory serves me it was 1976-77 after Buffalo Braves coach Dr. Jack Ramsey left for the Portland Trail Blazers. Today Buffalo fans like myself are painted as not caring and not real Buffalo Sabres fans because we are critical of the Buffalo Sabres organization or the Buffalo Bills organization.

Give it 20 years and sports could be way worse if your going to see winning and losing competition in my opinion for the fan that cares about results winning and losing. Management, coaches, players and agents in my opinion just don't care to them it is show them the money that is all and how much do I have to do for it. That to me says were just about entertainment and putting on a show were not players wanting results were entertainers in my opinion like actors, singers and dancers. Let's Go Buffalo

First the Buffalo Bisons are only 4 1/2 out of a wildcard playoff spot so all is not lost on this Buffalo Bisons season. Second it will always be about the money for sports owners. The Buffalo Bisons are a business like the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres etc. Granted they don't make the same profits the other two major league teams do but still the same general rule applies for the owner to make profits. That is what I am saying the New York Mets make the Buffalo Bisons profits it isn't maybe. The Toronto Blue Jays are maybe they will win in Buffalo.

I guess what I am saying is the Toronto Blue Jays are going to have to convince the Buffalo Bisons owner Bob Rich in my opinion that he can make the same profits or more if he switches PDC. So to me that is what it boils down too at the end of the day. Plus one other thing what if the Toronto Blue Jays fail in Buffalo in two years then what? Switching PDC ever two to four years isn't good either in my opinion. Because Buffalo Bisons fans never get to really see the fruits of the PDC. I mean atleast now you see Buffalo Bisons playing for the New York Mets after 4 years that takes time to build.

What I am saying is the Buffalo Bisons have to becareful where your not two or four and done all the time with your PDC because with affliated baseball the idea is basically the same development which I have been saying all along. Either way I don't care if it is the New York Mets or the Toronto Blue Jays. But I am also not a Buffalo Bisons fan that thinks the Toronto Blue Jays will be way better of a improvement over the New York Mets. At the end of the day your either a Buffalo Bisons fan or a fan like I said that just cares about a hotdog, sun seeing the other teams affliates play like the Scranton Yankees or Pawtucket Red Sox and party time with no interest in the results for the Buffalo Bisons which is ok. But for the Buffalo Bisons funs like us it is tough I understand that but the Buffalo Bisons options aren't great in my opinion in affliated baseball the way MLB sees farm system baseball today either. So other then leaving affliated baseball for the independent leagues I don't see what can be done really about it. Let's Go Buffalo
