    Pliny the Younger

Recently I saw a rank of the World's 15 best beers. Ranked #7 was Pliny the Younger.

It's a time-consuming and expensive brew to make, and as such Russian River Brewery only makes this once a year, and only for about 2 weeks. It is very limited in where it's available.

It's Sacramento Beer Week, and I found out about a place that was to tap a Pliny the Younger at 8:00 yesterday. I had a hockey game, and got there at 9:30 and no luck.

There was another tapping today at 11:00 a.m. and I was lucky to get some. They were out by 12:00.

I did a review of Pliny the Elder here.

All I say is Pliny the Younger is like Pliny the Elder - except "it goes to eleven".

Every year my favorite pub down here has a Russian River week and they did it last week. I went in on Thursday when they were taping the Russian River IPA. Pretty good beer but doesn't compare to the Pliny the Elder. The Pub only get's 1 keg a year of the Younger and it gets tapped on Saturday during Russian River week and is gone in an hour or so. I have never gone in to try to get some because I don't feel like waiting in a line for a pint of beer. One of these years I will. This pub normally has Pliny the elder on tap most days of the year which is why it is my favorite place to go.

I wish I lived in California for some of the beer.
