Craft made some huge plays for them though. I hate him, but he's going to be one of those 4 year guys that's just a real solid leader on that team in the near future. I was rooting for you guys just because I think Ohio State was the only team left that had a chance against Kentucky. I think they'll wipe the floor with Kansas.

It really isn't worth it to get back into the Syracuse-Ohio State game. It's a given that the officiating was absolutely horrendous. It's frustrating as hell that the game was controlled from the opening tip by the refs rather than them just keeping the players in check here and there, but that's the way it goes. Better luck next season. Still a great year for the Orange, espcially with all the crap they went through.

On a sidenote, it's amazing how everything lined up for Kentucky...
#2 overall seed loses starting center 2 days before tournament starts
#3 overall seed loses starting point guard in round of 32, starting pf re-aggravates a serious wrist injury, 2 months after starting SG goes down for the season with a torn ACL
#4 overall seed loses key guard off bench with torn ACL week before tournament
#2 seed in their bracket loses to #15 seed in first round
#2 seed in bottom bracket on their side loses to a #15 seed in first round
#4 seed in their bracket loses their starting point guard a week before the tournament to a torn ACL
Play a #4 seed in the Final Four
NO INJURIES, SUSPENSIONS, INCIDENTS for the #1 overall team that goes 6.5 players deep.

I mean seriously, what are the chances of all that going down and Kentucky coming out completely intact?

And on sidenote #2, one of the guys on a Kentucky message board apparently has been hearing that Calipari is planning to jump to the NBA if Kentucky wins it all and that Shaka Smart is waiting for either that or the UConn job to open up.
UK is a legit big time team but it sure did help they got some breaks along the way. the biggest one was Carolina never being fully healthy all year, I think the Heels were the only team that could have beaten them. Would have been an all-time classic if they didn't sustain all the injuries. Oh well. Good luck to UK tonight, as much as I hate them I don't want KU to win.

I always liked the Syracuse basketball program, but the elite 8 game showed me what a bunch of babies a huge part of their fanbase is. Hey BanditsRock11...come talk to me when the Orange has been to at least half as many Final Four's as The Ohio State.
BanditsRock11 is not a Syracuse fan. He pretty much hates them, I think. He's a UNC fan.

As far as the SU fan comment, I think every fan base has that segment. This year, with SU, it just got to a point of real frustration from a lot of people after what happened with Melo and then the way the OSU game was played and called. Personally, I haven't said one single word (here, at least) about the officiating in that game. And I won't. I was pissed how it was called and made the game almost unwatchable from a fans' standpoint, but I think both teams had a legit gripe about some of the calls. I do think the WAY it was called hurt SU more than it hurt OSU because it slowed them down and they like to play a run/transition game, but Syracuse didn't lose because of officiating. They lost because they missed easy layups, had turnovers they usually don't, and allowed OSU to hit some key shots in key situations late.

Also, complaining publicly about stuff like that just serves no purpose when it's all said and done. For me, at least. I just don't like to do it. Others (from all fan bases, see: NYJUNC still complaining about refs and geography and unfair advantages as he does every single year UNC doesn't win it) feel better if they point those excuses out and absolve responsibility of losing from their team.

As far as Craft, I can't blame the kid too much. Yes, he should have waited. But there were only a few seconds left and he was trying to do something to win. Something that's very tough to do in the first place, and I'm sure his adrenaline is going and his mind is racing. Overall, I didn't know much about him heading into this tourney, but really wound up hating him (which is a compliment), then really appreciating him as a college player. Plays hard. Plays great defense.

Tough loss for you guys. You should have closed it out. You have a bunch of good players coming back, but losing Sully (most likely) will hurt a lot.

Nerlens Noel will make his college choice known on April 11th.

As we all know, it's either Kentucky, Syracuse, or Georgetown.

If he commits to SU, it will give us a pretty amazing front court next year with Coleman, Rak, Keita, and Noel. But I'm not getting my hopes up. Expecting UK because all these guys go there now. You are complaining about it though and it sounds like you are saying the same things I post while watching the games. Don't be afraid to share your thoughts, sometimes the refs do screw up but at least the refs were bad for both sides in the SU-OSU game unlike the UNC-KU game where KU had every advantage imaginable and still had to squeak out a W.

Contrary to popular belief I don't whine about officials w/ every loss. The duke loss was one where horrible officiating gave duke a chance to win and Rivers hit the big shot, the KU game gave KU a ton of pts they didn't deserve. Those are the 2 I whined about this year, I didn't whine about UNLV, the 1 pt loss at KU, I don't think I did about the FSU ACC Tourney loss. There are games where the Heels get the edge, I haven't seen it in a big game in recent memory but they sure do get the benefit at times. I hate when officials dictate who wins and loses, I feel they did in the duke and KU games. Bad officiating should go both ways, it should even out or at least be close- it wasn't in either game.

I just like to rattle the cage and give you crap sometimes. :)

I was more upset as a college basketball fan than as an SU fan at that game. Pissed SU lost. But as far as officiating, more frustrated that it just was so hard to watch than at the calls against my team specifically.

Even my wife, very early on in the game said, "why are there so many fouls? It makes the game boring." When I explained OSU plays that style (goes to the line a ton), she said, "well, that's stupid. Why would they want to win like that?" LOL. But, the point is, it was very noticeable by her, as well. And early.

I hate when they call a million fouls, you have to allow the teams to play somewhat. There is contact in basketball and you can't call every play where there is contact. That was a difficult game to watch, it takes any flow out of the game and it becomes a FT shooting contest.

Hell, I knew it would happen. It didn't take seconds after the OSU game for my oldest to say, "Dad, we're going to Allen Fieldhouse to watch the finals game, right?" Ignoring my response of "I'll think about it", he called 3 of his friends to come along.

Gonna be a busy day and a busy night.

I double as an OSU fan actually... I was really close to going there for school but the money forced me elsewhere, but I cheer for them every game except when they play Cuse. Craft played great, but that play at the end was stupid. At the same time though, I don't really blame him. Two seconds left and you're trying to make a play, adrenaline rushing, and he just had a brain fart. It happens. What blew my mind was the 5 OSU players just standing there and letting KU run the clock out instead of fouling....

During the HS All Star game yesterday, they showed Nerlens Noel's stats on the bottom line and had Kentucky in parentheses for the school that he's committed too. Foreshadowing?

On the other hand though, Noel said post game that the biggest factor in his decision is going to a school that feels like family and he's been saying all year that the best thing about Syracuse is that it feels like family and that Mike Hopkins and him are closer than probably any other college coach he's gotten to know. And on top of that, one of the guys that knows some good sources has been saying that it's between us and G'Town, even after that story that said Shabazz and Noel may both go to Kentucky was leaked. Anyways, we'll see what happens on the 11th.

Apparently Kentucky offered DaJuan Coleman's girlfriend a job when they were trying to land him. At least that's what I've heard.

Those were the only 3 teams that I think had a chance at Kentucky. Athletic guards with quality big men....

Although if I was going to pick a 4th, it'd be Kansas. Thomas Robinson and Tyshawn Taylor will make this game alot more interesting than it probably should be. That said, I'm expecting Kentucky to win by double digits. Kansas will keep it close for a while, but by the end I think Kentucky's overall talent will show through.

It's funny, I don't like Cal, but I really like this UK team this year. They're alot of fun to watch, and you don't get that feeling that they're all spoiled super stars. They all want to play as a team together. I like that. Cal's done a great job with this team this year.

How am I a troll, and how am I wrong? Is Ohio State not known for blowing it in big sporting event? Were they not supposed to be a #1 seed this year with Sullinger coming back? Weren't they supposed to win it all a few years back? It always seems like the blow big games like that.

Also, I guess my avatar isn't enough to show you what team I'm a fan of, it's certainly not SU.....

Eh, I think this is a massive mis-match. Only hope is Taylor being hot and tearing up Marquis Teague. Robinson has no chance against Anthony Davis. Undersized finesse big men are screwed against Davis... plays right into Davis's hands.

Yet they get no credit for beating Oregon in the Rose Bowl. Although it was later vacated because of Tat-gate they actually did win their last two BCS bowls. But fear not, with Urban Meyer....very big games will be on the horizon I think we get a really bad rep for 'losing the big one', when schools like Oklahoma and Wisconsin SHOULD be the poster child for choking in big games. Even programs like Alabama in football and Duke in basketball lose occasionally.

I look forward to what people will say when Meyer wins a NC in Columbus though.

Syracuse will play San Diego State on an aircraft carrier on November 9th to kick of the season.

Of course, since the game will be played in Assistant Coach Mike Hopkins' home state of California....and it actually WILL be considered a "neutral site" game, we play in the Carrier Dome and this is an aircraft CARRIER, we will get no credit for leaving Syracuse.

    But in any event.......

    From CBSsports.com. 100 COACHES surveyed.....

The question is: Who is the most overrated coach in the country?

Roy Williams (North Carolina): 23 percent
    Rick Barnes (Texas): 17 percent
    Scott Drew (Baylor): 11 percent
Steve Lavin (St. John's): 9 percent
    Jay Wright (Villanova): 6 percent
    Ben Howland (UCLA): 6 percent
    Jim Boeheim (Syracuse): 4 percent
    Tommy Amaker (Harvard): 4 percent

    Quotes that stuck:

    On Roy Williams:
"He's won at Kansas and UNC. But who couldn't do that ... besides Matt Doherty?"
