Official 2011-2012 Big East and ACC basketball thread

Probably the last one of these with Syracuse and Pity joining the ACC.

what a strange game as expected but they took care of business then flew back across Country to play a true road game at a mid major on Sunday. I'm looking forward to this next stretch w/ the LV Invitational, ACC/Big 10 challenge and the game at UK.

I'm going to miss the BE-ACC threads, I hate what is happening to college sports but there's nothing we can do. I will hopefully be able to go to a UNC-SU game in the coming years.

It was a great game all together, what an experience that had to be. Michigan State has a nice young team, they'll be fine for a while.

First big time Big East school West Virginia goes down at home to a MAC school in Kent State today....interesting.

Yet, it'll be fun for us now watching a new rivalry (hopefully) be born between our teams. Should be fun.

Cuse hasn't looked bad yet... too bad they're playing against some small schools that aren't that good.

This Syracuse team is so much better than last year's it isn't even funny. You can already tell they worked their asses off in the off-season. Fab Melo has done a fabolous job just putting his hands up instead of jumping at anything that moved like he did last year and seems more focused on boxing out and rebounding this year. Southerland learned how to dribble without letting it go off his foot somehow, and he went from being a guy that could catch and shoot or catch and dunk but nothing else to being able to make good passes, rebound the ball, and attack the basket with his dribble sometimes. CJ Fair and Kris Joseph both look 203592753746 times better shooting the long ball. Waiters seems to have somehow gotten rid of his ego and now is just playing like a stud. Christmas and MCW both look decent but definitely still a little uncomfortable at the college level, and Triche and Scoop look the same as last year, with Triche being a little more aggressive with his shooting.

Last year Syracuse started 18-0, but it was by barely beating crappy teams. This year they're straight up dominating the competition. It's Final Four or bust this year.

    Dominating Manhattan and Albany.......

Either way, I'm excited by what I've seen.

    And Fordham.

And regardless, we struggled with pretty much every single team we played last year. This year we've steamrolled them all and looked much better than UConn or Kentucky who are ranked above us.

HUGE allegations coming against long time Bball assistant Bernie Fine. A 39 year old man is coming out saying that Fine molested him when he was the teams ball boy back in the 80s... For now it looks like the University actually did what they were supposed to in this case and found NO evidence to back up the guys claims. Hopefully its all proven to be untrue but certainly damage has already been done.

The part of the OTL video that I found odd was when they talked about how none of the other "victims" would come out and talk. Either they're extremely embarrassed or we might have someone crying wolf.

The more coming out about this the sketchier it has become. Hopefully there's nothing to this.

Cincy loses to Presbyterian and drops out of the top 25. That's 2 bad losses for ranked BE teams

My bro had to pass up on $10 tickets for each night to the games because we took a family trip to Boston. He's thrilled.

Down go the Heels, a terrible performance in vegas against UNLV the other night but early losses aren't necessarily bad losses.

Big week coming up w/ Wisconsion at home and at Kentucky

UNC has some major problems that I think will be tough to fix. For one, Marshall is a GREAT passer but that is all. He needs a lot of help staying in front of players on D which leaves players wide open on the outside. UNC has been terrible at defending the three in the past and with Marshall on the court, it is that much harder. These college kids are talented so it is not that tough for them to make wide open threes. Second problem with Marshall is his limited offense game. Better teams will just let him try and shoot while blocking off his passing lanes. Secondly, Zeller, Henson and MacAdoo are WEAK. They will get outrebounded a lot. Also, Barnes is not a good rebounder for his size which doesn't make sense. Shooting is still a problem and in game coaching still baffles me with Roy Williams. I think good coached teams will beat UNC on a regular basis. There are weaknesses that you can really pinpoint and take advantage of.

I think you are crazy, a less talented team made the elite 8 and was a minute away from the FF last year. Marshall is an elite PG, the best passser in the game but he can knock down down open shots. He doesn't have to b/c there are so many guys that can score but he can score if he needs to. Defensively he's fine, he's not great but he's fine, they didn't hit 13 3's b/c of Marshall.

No one is beating the Heels on a regular basis, you are going overboard based on one loss where a team played out of their minds and the Heels played terribly. They'll rebound and beat Wisconsion then we'll see what happens in Lexington. The heels are still the favroites to win it all.

See I don't watch games with baby blue glasses so I say what really happens. You act like what I said is some secret. Every analysts and educated UNC fans says the same thing. Who the heck did you guys even play to get to the elite 8??? Once you faced a team that was semi decent, you lost. I said Marshall is a great passer but the guy is very limited in shooting and lateral movement. It happened last season and just continued till this season. Didn't say they would lose on a regular basis because quite frankly UNC schedule is a joke after these next two games. Good teams will expose UNCs weaknesses.
