BREAKING: Scranton to play in 6 different cities for home games in '12.

Announced today the Scranton Yankees due to renovations on their homefield won't have an official home site this season, instead will be traveling all year. This sucks for the team, but is going to be great for fans in Buffalo.

They are playing in Pawtucket, Syracuse, Allentown.. but also in BUFFALO, ROCHESTER, and BATAVIA!

Like I said, unbelievable news for fans in our area. Sucks for the team though.

Sounds like those arguments made by some about how Coca-Cola field has no way of fitting extra games in don't hold any water.

I'm not sure exactly but they are soaking $40M into it. That's some serious renovations on a minor league park.

I think they're mostly structural. By all accounts, that park was teetering on the edge of being unsafe. Those types of renovations are costly. I don't think it will be a dream ballpark even after they're finished.

Either way, I don't think it will look much different at the end of the day. You just won't have to worry about it collapsing on you when you go to the beer stand.

True. I think the playing field itself will be the ONLY part of the park not touched by the renovations. If I remember right, you'll be able to walk around the ballpark(because it'll have a 360 degree concourse, which most newer parks(i.e. Columbus')have, among other things.

Taken from an article on the Scranton Wilkes Barrie Yankees website:

With the exception of the playing surface, which was newly installed prior to the
2010 season and some aspects of infrastructure, the reconstruction of PNC Field
will essentially make it a brand new facility. The updated stadium will feature a 360
degree open concourse, will include lawn seats, state of the art scoreboards and
video boards, as well as many other new features and fan amenities. In addition to
enhancing the fan experience, the stadium reconstruction will also provide new jobs
and economic opportunities for the region.

Lax, get a load of this one...

When Scranton/Wilkes-Barre gets back into its sorta new digs...it may NOT be known as the Yankees.

This could potentially open up Buffalo for the Yankees in the future if they are getting out of owning minor league teams. Not that I like the Yankees, because I hate them but their farm system is way better than the crap we have dealt with in our time with the Mets.

This post is not geared towards your post at all so don't take it personally your post I just choose to use as the post to reply too. This post is for all Buffalonians to think about. Look the New York Yankees aren't coming most likely to Buffalo fulltime as a PDC for the Buffalo Bisons ever in my opinion as long as the Buffalo Bisons continue to have a multiple events beyond baseball only at Coke Cola Field. Think about it with the Rich Families money if the New York Yankees were ever possible they would have been in Buffalo years ago before Cleveland Indians (even thou the Cleveland Indians were good to Buffalo before 1988 they were so so) and Pittsburgh Pirates (they weren't good to Buffalo in my opinion not as bad as the New York Mets PDC wise but who is?) where choosen for Pilot Field when it first opened in 1988 in my opinion.

It is not possible because of the way the Buffalo Bisons are run as a business. Many Buffalo Bisons fans have said this and in my opinion it is valid reasoning. The New York Yankees are corporate and like total baseball only and basically control of the ways things are run like the Buffalo Bisons like total control of the own stadium (Coke Cola Field). One of those things the New York Yankees want is baseball only for there prospects development meaning no Buffalo Wing Festival, no Pro Wrestling, no Taste of Country and no Kiss the Summer Hello at Coke Cola Field which is the Buffalo Bisons giving up $$$ money in my opinion.

Fans think so what BSF that isn't bad to give up that stuff as a New York Yankees/Buffalo Bisons fan, I don't care about those things. Neither do I as a sports fan and a Buffalo Bisons baseball fan but the Buffalo Bisons as a business do like those things. Think the Buffalo Bills and the Toronto Series contining basically it is business that brings the team $$$ money same with the Buffalo Bisons with multiple events at Coke Cola Field.

Understand the Buffalo Bisons are a business and the owners care about money just like the Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres grant it on a much smaller scale but were still talking $$$ money and business. The only way I could ever see the Buffalo Bisons ever considering giving the New York Yankees what they want would be if attendance got so bad baseball wise think Buffalo Bisons IL in the late 1960's at War Memorial Stadium/Hyde Park (Niagara Falls) that the Buffalo Bisons would have no other choice to save the Buffalo Bisons baseball in Buffalo. And to me the Buffalo Bisons aren't at that point and proabley will never be because the bottom line Bob Rich is a minor league owner so it isn't so over the top like a Terry Pegula owning a major league team like the Buffalo Sabres but the bottom line Bob Rich is way up there on Forbes Magazine just like Terry Pegula worth several billion dollars with Rich Products so the Buffalo Bisons will always be finacially secure in Buffalo to ever have to give into the New York Yankees silly demand of a baseball only stadium for there prospects in my opinion. Terry Pegula who I am a fans of so spare me some possible Buffalonians/Buffalo Sabres being upset with what I am about to post. Bob Rich has been doing for the Buffalo Bisons what Terry Pegula has done for years. It isn't special it is what a good owner does. I understand Terry Pegula is big league team and Bob Rich is a minor league team that isn't my point.

My point Buffalo's sports bar for success in my opinion needs to be higher today like BSF champion yearly bar or the season was a bust for whatever Buffalo team and league Buffalo is in. Buffalo fandom in my opinion has changed today starting in the 2000's where just having a major league team was good enough thankfully BSF is one of the last of oldtime Buffalo that is embarrassed with those thoughts. I have that bar high for all the Buffalo sports teams and the bar has never been low even with "Dollar Ralph" who yes I think is a cheap as a owner who hasn't done anything since 1999. And all together has about 10 good years out of 50 which is 1/5 and mostly with his teams in the 1960's and 1990's that isn't good enough in my opinion. To me Ralph Wilson's glory years wasn't the four Super Bowls it was 1964 and 1965 AFL back to back champion years when Ralph Wilson was at his best or prime years as Buffalo Bills owner. So as much as I am happy Terry Pegula bought the Buffalo Sabres I don't gush all over about it saying isn't this great when Bob Rich and Mindy Rich has done that for years with the Buffalo Bisons. And just remember the Buffalo Bisons have 13 championships and are Buffalo oldest and most traditional team starting in 1877 no matter what others want to believe. The Buffalo Bills weren't even Buffalo's first major league franchise or even first NFL team for that matter that is always said and it isn't true. The Buffalo Bisons of the NL baseball in the late 1800's was Buffalo's first of many major league teams in different sports.

The bottom line Buffalo Bisons in my opinion in there business minds can't see enough of a ticket sale increase with the New York Yankees as the Buffalo Bisons PDC to justify giving up all those other events so it will most likely will never happen. I would like the see the New York Yankees as the Buffalo Bisons PDC because if the New York Yankees could get past the baseball only for there prospects at Coke Cola Stadium corporate wise the Buffalo Bisons want the same things in my opinion as the New York Yankees organization big $$$$ money and just win baby yearly with lots of profits yearly.

I do think the New York Mets are gone at the end of the 2012 season for the Toronto Blue Jays. The Toronto Blue Jays because marketing wise the Buffalo Bisons make out with cross boarder ticket buyers from southern ontario and two the Toronto Blue Jays farm system is loaded for possible winning teams in Buffalo. Plus add in Toronto will give Buffalo just about anything they want to get out of Las Vegas and comeback closer east for there prospects in my opinion. The New York Mets are gone because there owners think like Ralph Wilson just to give fans an idea that is why there gone in my opinion. The Buffalo Bisons and New York Mets as organizations don't match up well in my opinion like a Buffalo Bisons and New York Yankees for winning and profits yearly. The Wilpons like the Wilsons are small timers that can't see the total picture in my opinion.

Both the Wilpons and the Wilsons are sitting on huge marketing possibilites for there products to make even more money if they would build winning organizations but they are both to small time mom and pop to see the forest through the trees in my opinion. And Buffalo Bills fans spare me small market with southern ontario to sell tickets too our combine metro market population is 10 million plus. Get a Andrew Luck or a Peyton Manning and that will sell in Buffalo and Toronto just to give a example of potential the Buffalo Bills/Toronto Series could do.

If the Buffalo Bills got a Andrew Luck or a Peyton Manning in a trade in my opinion most Buffalo Bills fans wouldn't care if the Buffalo Bills played two december regular season games in Toronto and all of preseason games in Toronto if it ment operating like a big market NFL franchise and winning regularly in my opinion in Buffalo/Toronto. If it was up to BSF no games would be played in Toronto, all of the Buffalo Bills games in Buffalo only because I have my Buffalo pride and would find a way business wise to make the Buffalo Bills work in Buffalo playing all there games here for less profit but the deccision isn't up to me. So my point is if the Buffalo Bills are going to do the Toronto Series regionalization do it right not the way it is now in my opinion. That is what I mean by Ralph Wilson being a small time owner mom and pop. As for Wilpons there even more of an embarrassment in my opinion. Getting rid of rookie league Gulf League team this offseason in Florida to save a dollar that is growing the New York Mets farm system how? The New York Mets have a SNY Network that brings in millions the New York Mets should be signing Jose Reyes and Prince Fielder instead of cutting payroll losing Jose Reyes to the Miami Marlins of all places with not many fans shameful. The New York Mets embarrassing themselves yearly with the Wilpons like a MLB small market team taking Buffalo Bisons 4A players signed for a Buffalo Bisons pennant playoff push in the IL in August like examples Mike Hessman and Valentino Pascucci even though the New York Mets are a money tree with tons of revenue streams should usually never have to do that in my opinion. So spare me New York Mets fans wake up your owners are small time mom and pop owners with no reason to be like that in my opinion. Oh yes the Buffalo Bills and New York Mets had injuries to me excuses all teams have injuries sign proper depth and that wouldn't be a problem in my opinion.

Buffalo Bisons fans weather they like it or not are just going to have to accept this about a possible potentially Buffalo Bisons New York Yankees PDC in the future. Some New York Yankees/Buffalo Bisons fans seem to think it is just BSF not being a New York Yankees fans. And the truth is as a Buffalo Bisons fan I could see the New York Yankees giving alot of New York Yankees/Buffalo Bisons fans excitement if it happen. For me I don't care who the PDC is as long as the Buffalo Bisons win. I have said before I like MLB and watch when I can but I root for every former Buffalo Bisons player and I have no favorite MLB team because Buffalo hasn't had MLB since 1885. BSF grew up a Buffalo Bisons fans with his father taking him to the games. He doesn't relate to NL or AL he was always a Buffalo Bisons fans weather it was Eastern League, American Assoication or International League. BSF would be very happy with the Buffalo Bisons in the independent Atlantic League aka like the Long Island Ducks or Newark Bears that sign Darryl Strawberry and Rickey Henderson types towards the end of there baseball careers, with all our own Buffalo Bisons players community owned with total control and of course that will never happen but just to give baseball fans an idea of BSF thought process he is pro Buffalo only teams winning and could careless about anything else. I watch all the Buffalo Bisons IL games either in person or tv or online so I don't follow any MLB team baseball wise daily but the Buffalo Bisons that is all I have time for with a 144 game IL schedule.

Also don't confuse BSF being against Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees playing all there games in Buffalo when that was talked about. Buffalo Bisons with New York Yankees prospects and Scranton WB Yankees playing all there games in Buffalo when it was talked about totally different things in my opinion. As for the 6 games I have no problem with that because it is against the Buffalo Bisons. My problem was if the Buffalo Bisons and Scranton WB Yankees both played in Coke Cola Field all there 72 home IL scheduled games spliting the baseball fan base here.

Because yes I think some Buffalonians would embarrass themselves rooting against the Buffalo Bisons like what happens now at Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres games which I also think is a complete embarrassment as a Buffalonian. Buffalonians try and understand BSF point of view when he writes he is old school and some Buffalonians rooting for the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriots or Boston Bruins to me is embarrassing and yes those Buffalonians should hand in there Buffalonian card in my opinion. I could have seen potentially Buffalonians rooting for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees instead of the Buffalo Bisons as the same thing and in my opinion that could potentially hurt IL baseball long term in Buffalo with the Buffalo Bisons that is why I was against it. I could just see potentially a Buffalonian I use to have Scranton Wilkes-Barre Yankees season tickets for the 2012 season in Buffalo's Coke Cola Field. That is why today ______ Buffalonian embarrass myself rooting against the Buffalo Bisons to me that thought possiblity would be right up there with Buffalonian rooting today for the Patriots, Dolphins and Bruins now against the Buffalo Bills. Because the Scranton WB Yankees were Buffalo's team for a year ah no thanks.

Just watch what could possibly potentially happen in Rochester who got most the Scranton WB Yankees games in 2012. The Rochester Red Wings IL community owned team's fan base isn't as strong as the Buffalo Bisons as it is and last season lost $100,000 plus in 2011. Watch I predict long term Rochester Red Wings lose more money in the future years after 2012 season of record profits because the Rochester Red Wings will also potentially will sell the Batavia Muckdogs NY-Penn League at the end of the 2012 season for 25% of the total sale for running them for 5 years to Binghamton with the Binghamton Mets owners selling the Eastern League team potentially to Ottawa. Sure the Rochester Red Wings will make out $$$ money with the extra games and the sale of the Batavia Muckdogs for 2012 season so don't throw that at me saying see BSF but watch beyond that and then judge BSF opinion 2013- and beyond. Because in my opinion Rochester Red Wings IL and Syracuse Chiefs IL fans don't have the same type of community pride or hardcore fan base for there team as Buffalo does for the Buffalo Bisons IL. Also see Buffalo Bandits vs Rochester Knighhawks NLL fan bases. Buffalo Bandits sell 16,000 seats a game on a regular bases with over a 9,000 season ticketholder base. Rochester can't sellout a 11,000 seat Blue Cross Arena with tarps for the Rochester Knighthawks shameful. Buffalo Bandits fans help sell tickets and is the Rochester Knighthawks most attended games of the season. In Albany and Syracuse it is even worse both cities couldn't support Albany Attack and Syracuse Smash NLL franchises electing to stay home and watch the New York City sports teams on tv or ESPN in my opinion. That is what I am talking about not letting Buffalo sports fans minds turn to slop with outside Buffalo sports teams influences from tv.

It is unfortunately oldtime Buffalo Bisons fans like myself would rather follow the Buffalo Bisons only instead of giving in to television and what MLB AL and NL is selling instead of staying loyal to the IL as a league and Buffalo Bisons independance from the mass marketing televison of the AL and NL baseball teams taking IL territorries that at onetime where independant outpost to MLB clubs. I would rather be a Buffalo Bisons IL fan seeing Buffalo baseball wise as a independant outpost like we always have been with families rooting for the Buffalo Bisons as there favorite baseball team then rooting for another MLB team. Basically that way BSF refuses to give in his Buffalo Bisons fan independant IL outpost then root for the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Yankees, New York Mets or whatever MLB PDC for money territory marketing map for YES, SNY and ESPN and television for more $$$ money I have my Buffalo pride and Buffalo fan self respect. If it wasn't for the Buffalo Sabres I would tell Time Warner Cable to get rid of MSG why pay for the New York Knicks and New York Rangers businesses and Fuse music channel that I think MSG is also pushing shameful using the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo to do it.

That is why the Buffalo Sabres hopefully someday will place there games on a local Buffalo cable sports channel in Buffalo instead or create one for Buffalo Sabres games. The lesson from BSF long winded post Buffalo needs to stay independant in sports and one of the last outpost holdouts for our market size. Forget about New York Cities sports teams like the New York Knicks, Rangers, Yankees and Mets because they don't care about Buffalo sports teams in the long term. All Buffalo is basically is a number on a television map and more $$$ money for the New York City teams and there networks. Don't sellout in my opinion or Buffalo may someday have no sports teams to go to just watching on tv New York City sports like the rest of New York State does now in my opinion. I have said this for years on this board support the local teams the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres, Buffalo Bisons, Buffalo Bandits and Buffalo Bulls forget about outside our area sports teams stay loyal to Buffalo. MSG and Tme Warner is just another example of outside Buffalo teams trying to take money out of Buffalo and using our own Buffalo teams in this case the Buffalo Sabres NHL teams to fund New York Knicks and New York Rangers in my opinion shameful of MSG. Maybe now more Buffalonians will see what BSF has talked about for years staying loyal to Buffalo teams only and not selling out to outside interest that don't care about Buffalo sports very much just profits. Same deal with the Syracuse Orange trying to take tv money out of the Buffalo market instead of it going to the Buffalo Bulls and this Buffalo Sabres MSG and Time Warner is a great example of what I have been saying for years now with the Buffalo Bulls and staying loyal to Buffalo Bulls tv viewership and fan attendance wise instead of Syracuse Orange or Michigan Wolverines or Duke Blue Devils because that means more money and power for the Buffalo Bulls in the future. The Buffalo Bulls can't do it without all of Buffalo's support either by going to the games, buying Buffalo Bulls merchandise and watching Buffalo Bulls games on Time Warner Sportsnet Channel 13 because it is about $$$ money. Unfortunately some Buffalo sports fans will never learn or understand what BSF is even talking about. Let's Go Buffalo

Pinstripes81 you are entittled to whatever opinion you want to have about this subject. But what is unfortunate is that you don't post a opinion that counters my post of why you disagree just a crude image. The bottom line Buffalo shouldn't have to be controled by New York City business influence in sports too like it is in just about everything else in my opinion. And just FYI my mother side is from Brooklyn and I have been to New York City more times then I can remember. Because alot of my relatives from my mom's side are still living all over New YorK City area. I am from Buffalo born and raised. My father side is from Buffalo. My point being I have no problem with New York City it is a great fun city but I do have a problem if it is over shadowing what is in Buffalo best interest or Buffalo sports best interest.

It is just my opinion but the dispute with MSG Time Warner Cable and the Buffalo Sabres is New York City sports interest for profit trying to use a Buffalo sports team for MSG own benefit which I get, it is business after all I get that. But it doesn't meaning I want anymore New York City teams as PDC like the Mets or Yankees in Buffalo. Too me between MSG owning the New York Rangers and New York Knicks that is conflict of interest with the Buffalo Sabres there if the other NHL owners and NHL commissoner Gary Bettman had any backbone they wouldn't even allow a tv deal like that to ever happen for the Buffalo Sabres in my opinion in the first place after Empire Sports Network went out of business.

With the Buffalo Bisons deal with the New York Mets how is that working out for Buffalo after three years? The Buffalo Bisons have so of the worse on field product for a three period that I can ever remember. So I say no thanks to the New York Yankees and there controling ways of doing business. You don't like that because your a New York Yankees fan fine that is your point of view but atleast be good about it instead of some crude image because another poster is making a point that you don't happen to agree with. Let's Go Buffalo

We all can agree to disagree we have different points of view good luck with that with the other sports sheep in the rest of New York State (Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, Utica, Hudson Valley etc) outside of Buffalo clinging onto New York City sports teams because that is all they have which is really sad speaking from a Buffalo point of view.

If more think like you two in Buffalo someday in the future you might get your wish. Buffalo Bisons IL with either the New York Yankees or New York Mets and Buffalo Bisons AHL with the New York Rangers no more Buffalo Sabres or Buffalo Bills we can just be sports sheep like the rest of upstate cities and root for the New York Giants or Jets that thought makes me sick. I hope I never see that day. Because it will be a sad day for Buffalo because we will have lost everything in my opinion. Most Buffalonians know what I am getting at and talking about if you are from Buffalo you get it. If your not from Buffalo you proably don't either get it or you do but you don't care or you can't stand BSF period because his pro Buffalo at all times bothers you for some unknown reason to me. If the Yankees ever got rid of their requirement that their minor league ball parks are baseball only, then they would be the perfect affiliate for Buffalo despite my hatred of them. The Bisons would see a pretty big rise in attendance, plus the Yankees team in Scranton is always competitive. Saying that in 2013, I think it will be Toronto here and they have the makings of a pretty loaded farm system.

I agree that I think it will be the Toronto Blue Jays in 2013 also. Even though I am very disappointed in the New York Mets organization because they don't in my opinion value a farm system in a way like the Cleveland Indians do which is unfortunate. I don't hate the New York Yankees and I would have no problem with them. I agree attendance would go up if the New York Yankees were the Buffalo Bisons PDC. My point is I never agreed with the idea of the Scranton WB Yankees playing all there 72 home games in Coke Cola Field going up against the Buffalo Bisons for fan support in 2012.

Because long term I think is would do damage to the Buffalo Bisons overall fan base just my opinion. I guess to sum it up the Buffalo Bisons who ever there with PDC wise in 2013 should be enough but unfortunately it isn't for some Buffalo Bisons fans and again I think that is unfortunate. I am a Buffalo Bisons fan no matter who the PDC is. I go for the Buffalo Bisons because I am a proud Buffalonian and am a fan of the Buffalo Bisons not because of who ever the Buffalo Bisons PDC is. I don't need the PDC MLB team to matter to be a Buffalo Bisons fan. The Buffalo Bisons in the International League are enough for me baseball wise.

As a Buffalo Bisons fan the goals are the same as follows for me as a Buffalo Bisons fan yearly Thruway Cup, North Divison, Governors' Cup and Triple A National Championship that to me should be enough for a Buffalo Bisons fan. If it isn't maybe your not a Buffalo Bisons fan that is all I have to say to those Buffalo Bisons fans that feel they need the New York Yankees to be able to get into the Buffalo Bisons in my opinion. This potentially could be the last season of the Batavia Muckdogs NY-Penn League because the Batavia market is just too small for single a NY-Penn League baseball today in my opinion. So I would guess none but that is just a guess on my part. I think most of the games will be in Rochester with a few in Syracuse and Buffalo like was said. The Buffalo vs Scranton games would have been road games for Buffalo in Scranton if Scranton had a ballpark available. So Buffalo makes out that way getting 6 road games home that would have been road games which is good for us. Let's Go Buffalo
