    Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

Alright well not sure what happened to the Beer Review sub forum but i picked this up last night and have wanted to try it ever since I saw that Bremasters on Discovery last year. This is my first pumpkin ale and very excited to try it. The bottle reads "A fullbodied brown ale brewed with real pumpkin, brown sugar, allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg." Sounds like an interesting combination.

Appearance- Pours with next to no head, little ring of it around the edge but thats about it. It looks like a murky orange color. Not quite brown not quite orange but it is clear, can see through the glass.

Smell- Pumpkin... its that simple. It smells a lot like pumpkin and you can definately smell all the spices mentioned on the bottle

Taste- It is complex.... kinda reminds me of an IPA actually. You can taste a bit of the pumpkin but it more about the spices I think. I don't know where the brown sugar is but that is the one thing I do not taste at all.

Mouthfeel- It is surprisingly carbonated considering the lack of head which could be from the pint glass and not the beer.

Overall- I'ma give it one thumb up. I didn't fall in love with it like I hoped that I would, really wanted to thoroughly enjoy it. Its good just does not wow me.

Been a while since anyone has done a review so maybe with the fresh seasonals out there will be more of them.

I have been getting amped up for the fall brews. I liked thie pumpkin ale but there were a lot more spices that as I drank, kinda turned me off. Kinda the same effect that IPAs have on me. Gotta get some Oktoberfest brews but this will not be my last pumpkin ale.
