Pic of skimmer... Entire reaction chamber fills with micro bubbles and waste then gets pushed to top of bubbles and out to a collection canister.
During a big storm with high waves... U will see a brownish foam on the beach... In reality.. That foam is waste. Huge waves are natures protein skimmers.

the tank is just doing "meh" right now. gotta get a new light fixture when i start my new job. when i get that, i think thatll make a world of difference. THEN ill take pictures.

thats hair algae thats over taken a piece of rock with java moss on it on the left.. i want to get rid of the hair algae in my tank, but i must say, that rock looks kinda cool.

update. was walking though the pet isles at my local meijer and they had amazon sword plants on clearance. they all green and healthy, so i bought one. the right side of the tank looks better now. it really adds depth to the back right of the aquarium.

JATM, give that tank the right lighting, and you will need to prune on a weekly basis... looking forward to see it grow over the next 3-6 months....keep us updated, looking good so far.
any advice on lighting? right now, i know my t-8s are not enough. t-5 is a minimal, im sure. LED lightning good?

If you could afford it try LED's but I would def try to get t5. Look at eBay and amazon for some deals. Is that a 55 gallon?
I don't think it will be a blow out. I'm seeing a low scoring boring game with the Bills losing due to some stupid, crazy, freak play aka Marc Sanchez leading the Jets on a 99 yard game winning FG with no time left. And America will be back to line up and blow him.

i saw an LED set up for 60 bucks for 24 inch strips. my tank has a divider at the 24 inch mark in the middle across the top. that MIGHT WORK.
