    Nice game one.

CC was money as usual. Joba was money as well which is weird.

The Soriano - Mariano closing duet was lights out for the Tigers.

Granderson was all over the place on D and hit the go ahead homer

Yankees.com has a video on their homepage of a couple of Granderson's nice catches from tonight.

I didn't think CC was very sharp and he blew a 3-0 lead. He wasn't bad and he battled through 6 but this wasn't one of CC's better performances.

Yeah it was a 3-1 lead, but anyway, I agree he battled, but in the end he does what number 1's do, he gave us a quality start... Good job all around. THE GRANDY MAN CAN, he seems poised for a big year...

I agree with you here, I didn't think CC looked that sharp. he got himself into some jams, he also got out of them but still don't think he was "Money". I think he gave up 8 hits or something, thats not money to me. 106 pitches in 6 innings.

It was game one of the entire season. Had it been an August game I'd be right with you. A quality start in the very first game of the year ??? I'll take that any day. Only 2 of the 3 runs were earned. He was pretty darn good IMO

Nice to see Tex hit that bomb and start the season out on the right foot. Grandy was putting on a great show in the outfield.

On another note, I am not a Dodger fan at all but it was nice to see Don Mattingly get his first win as a Manager.

Yeah i don't think there is much more to ask of your ACE in 40 degree wheather... He did his job. I have no problem with what he did yesterday.

My post wasn't meant to bash or criticize CC, I just don't think he was particularly sharp. He'll be fine and I was satisfied w/ his performance but he wasn't even close to being as good as he will be.

I think it was more than 40 degrees and last I checked it gets pretty cold in oct/Nov during the postseason so I can't buy a weather excuse. We know he'll be fine, I wasn't bashing him just pointint out that I didn't agree he was "money" yesterday.

So you don't think that your 1st 6 innings in 40 degree whether is any different than your last 6 innings after a full season, and throwing 200+IP is any different? The announcers said he takes a while to get loose, he heats up with the whether. I never said he was money, I said he battled and he did what he was supposed to. He will have a game just like this in July or august too, and it will be what your ace is supposed to do, when he doesn't have his A type stuff, Battle and thats what he did...

Guess we have different standards for "money".

To me yesterday was just that. I bet we win over 65% or more of 6 innings of 2 earned games in a season.

Russell Martin is the greatest free agency signing in the history of baseball. #kneejerkreaction

How awesome is it seeing the Yankees 2-0 and the Red Sox well on their way to being 0-2 in extremely lopsided games.

Just 65% - - I'd be willing to say more than that. Much more.

Again, I'm not criticizing CC but he certainly wasn't money- money is not blowing a 2 run lead laboring through 6 innings.

Good start to the season, just win series and they won their first. Hughes was awful which isn't a good sign after a bad spring but we'll see what happens w/ him.

What would be money for you ?? Honest question

and yes Hughes was awful. Colon too after a good spring. Lets see what Nova has today. He's my dog for this year !

Hughes is a huge question mark for me, to be honest he did look all that good after the all-star break, and now he seems to be right where he left off... Huge concern.. We are gonna need to add a SP before long...

Money wouldn't be blowing a 3-1 lead and laboring to get through 6 innings. he battled which is a good sign but he was far from money. Money would be getting a 3-1 lead and closing the door, not allowing the opponent to tie the game and leaving the game up to the pen for the final 9 outs.

Blowing a 3-1 lead ??? Weird definition. By your standards blowing a 2-0 lead would also fall out of the money category. Like I said I bet the winning percentage for quality starts is pretty darn high. That will always be money in my book. To each his own.

a Quality start is just that, its a QUALITY start. Its not Money at all. CC battled or struggled through 6. He just barely got into the quality start category by going the minimum innings for a quality start and allowing the max amount of runs for a quality start.

It's only 2 runs but you expect to hold that lead w/ your Ace on the mound more, more often than not CC will hold that lead and shut down the opponent. he did enough to keep us in the game, he was not money in my opinion but we can at least agree to be happy about getting the W!

Yeah I'm not trying to convince anyone. We'll agree to disagree. We just have different definitions of "money" in baseball terms.

CC on the mound today again which is good as I don't want to see Garcia out there a lot.

Why is that??? It seems weird to already skip the 5th guy this early in the season. I thought I was nuts when I counted only 4 guys having a game started on the website.
