Also it should be noted that when I go back down to school this weekend I will be about 20 min from a Wegmans and I have the local liquor store to buy stuff at but have no idea what their beer selection is

I'd recommend Sierra Nevada Kellerweis or Hoegaarden
Would I benefit from just sticking with Coor's or something for a while ?

Touche lol. I dunno there are a few people that think I should start from the bottom up and there was one person in this thread saying that I could possibly get turned off to beer all together if I start with some other stronger beers. Just makin sure I'm goin at this the right way is all.

I would start with something light like Coor's or Genny. Cheap and goes down easy. Definitely try some of the one's people have been suggesting, but just don't get turned off if you think they're too strong.
Like I said, when I first started drinking beer at 17 I could barely finish a Molson or Sleeman. Took me forever to even like Guiness. Apparently the palette takes about 8 years to be refined enough to distinguish subtle tastes in beer, so being a college student and all, I would just try a lot of cheap beers until you find one you like.
Also what I used to do was buy a 6 pack of good beer and a 6 pack of cheap shitty beer. By the time I was done the first 6, everything tasted the same anyway.
I don't really care if it takes time. Really would like to try Hoegaarden sometime maybe if I have cash left I'll hit Premier before I go to school

When I turned 21, what I did was buy cheap swill at the bars and buy good stuff for at home. This was due in part to my finances (college student) and in part to availability (most bars around here don't have the greatest selection until somewhat recently.). My rationale was I was going to pay at least 2 dollars a beer for normally labatt blue at a bar, I can get a damn tasty 6 pack for home at the same price. Explore beer, it's fun and tasty!
