Iron Pigs sounds like the best of the bunch.
The name means a critical part of steel production. And considering Allentown has quite the record of steel production,it would be the most fitting.
The rest of the meanings:
Crushers: rock solid cement producers
Gobblers: turkeys
Keystones: 'nuff said!
Phantastics: homage to the Phillies
Phillies: See Phantastics
Vulcans: God of fire, and another steel reference
Woodchucks: Groundhog Day,anyone?

Ladies and gentlemen....
Say hello to the team the Bisons will start playing against in 2008.
It's the Lehigh Valley....
Iron Pigs.
The I-Pigs were the overwhelming choice, winning by a 2 to 1 margin over their nearest competitor.
They're now on the web at http://www.ironpigsbaseball.com/ .
Plan B Branding will assist the team in crafting their identity(logos and colors specifically). They've already worked with some of the teams in the Phillies chain(Reading and Clearwater),and are working with MLB on new concepts for one of the oldest teams.

Oh God! At least it doesn't have "Red" in it. The Bisons once played 21 straight games against a team named "Red ______". It was the 1998 season I believe; the first year back in the IL. Red Wings, Red Barons, Red Sox, Redbirds.

So,I take it that you think the nickname-to quote "South Park"-sucks ass?

Hmmm, Iron Pigs, that is different. I just wonder if they are going to have a pig as a logo? Anyway, I will probably make a trip to Allentown in 08 when the Bisons are in town. I plan on making a trip to Ottawa this year seeing it is the last year of the team.

If you do,I can already give you a lodging recommendation(since I did the roadie in 2001): The Hampton Inn right off Hwy. 417 is right next to Jetform Park. So you don't even have to pay for parking at the park if you're a guest. (Plus, the parking at the Hampton is underground-which helps on warm days.)
Must-dos(depending on season)for starters:
*Tour Parliament Hill and see the Changing of the Guard
*Sparks Street Mall
