SEOUL, South Korea (CNN) -- North Korea said Wednesday that increased U.S. pressure against the communist regime would be considered an act of war.

"If the U.S. keeps pestering us and increases pressure, we will regard it as a declaration of war and will take a series of physical corresponding measures," the North's Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency.

"We were compelled to prove that we have nuclear weapons to prevent the increasing threat of war by the U.S. and protect our sovereignty and survival," the North said, criticizing an alleged nuclear threat from Washington and sanctions. "We are ready for both dialogue and confrontation."

The statement was the first official announcement from the North Korean government since KCNA reported of the Monday test.

Now is the time to send in the b-52's and then Iran will think twice about what it is doing.

A question. I was watching CBS news last night or maybe it was yahoo (doesn't matter) and I swear I saw something that said if we didn't talk unilaterally with Kim that he would launch a nuclear tipped missile. Am I the only one who saw this?

He did say that.

But North Korea has always made crazy threats like that.

Not really.

If you send those bombers, you can kiss Seoul goodbye.

You do realize every single battery of artillery NK has is pointed directly at Seoul, which is only like 20 or 30 miles away from entrenched North Korean cannon.

We should wait another two years and give them more time to develop their bombs and actually sell them to terrorists. You gotta wonder if thats what the neocon insaniacs actually want.

The US cannot make policy based on North Korean threats. North Korea has to know that if they take "physical action" against South Korea, which is about all they are capable of doing, the US will reduce their capital to a pile of dust. The US needs to be working on diplomatic overtures to China so that China gives at least private endorsement of US actions against N Korea. China may be reluctant to give too much public support though. They have been an ally of N. Korea in the past, but they have to know that the crackpot running that hole in the ground has the potential to derail the economic development they covet by destabilizing world peace.

Just leave him to the Chinese. Their say is far more important than ours. China and Russia are in agreement with us on this one and while Kim is nuclear now I don't think his threat is as dangerous as he would want.

That is a stalinist police state, however it wouldn't suprise me if we wouldn't leak info to him that his generals were planning a rebellion just so he would gut his high command. I think Kim is bats and would do something like that.

Do you really think china wants us Involved? after all we did so well in the last "police action" in korea--- in reality we got our butts kicked.

The us military is so weak right now they can barely hold on to afganistan.

The Bush administration gave up on Afghanistan a long time ago. Iraq was always the target, they just did Afghanistan for show, to make it look like they were actually going after Osama. They were'nt. They let him go, literally, and went on to their real target of Iraq.
