Maybe Shiva and the boys can take over the wine industry, that's if they don't get flooded by the melting polar ice pack first.

Global warming is a religion at best, a myth at worst.
It's not happening. Just like the population bomb didn't happen. Just like Global Cooling didn't happen.
So there. Now you can relax.

Nah, global warming is too specific. Now it's "climate change". You know, the kind where it might get warmer. Or cooler. Or wetter. Or drier. But it's all you selfish Americans in SUVs who didn't sign Kyoto who are the cause of whatever it is.
The only thing I can predict with certainty, is that the debate about the weather is responsible for a record harvest of whine year over year.

Hate to burst some bubbles but here are some facts.
1. Global Warming is happening.
2. This is part of the Earth's natural cycle and the earth has been in heating and cooling cycles in its long history
3. We are currently in one of the coolest (temperature wise, most of the people suck) epochs in our planet's history. This started about 100,000 years ago
4. There is pretty much nothing we can do to stop this trend
5. While we can feel better about ourselves for reducing emissions its really not going to do anything
Oh and a bonus fact free of charge. There were folks in the Seventies saying that we were on the verge of a new ice age. Bottom line not even science is sure about this one but really I don't think there is anything we can do to seriously enhance or reduce global warming.

Just to clarify I speak of deterministic global climate changes that are man-made. There are plenty of people that are even more gullible than the Jim Jones followers.
Hope that helps.
I have a religion that I want to start. And I expect my followers to pay homage in forms of cash. These are the first people that I will rope in. Easy, guaranteed billionaire status.

Well the population bomb did happen but we can probably have as many as 24 billion people before we start having problems. Remember this is with today's science. If there is a threat with population up coming it will not be food but water.

How is that? Desalianation will solve that with no problem at all. Most populations live within a few hundred miles of a body of water. Just demographics.
Increase the saltiness of the ocean maybe? Yeah, someone explain that one. Won't change the osmolarity one billionth of a percent.
Trap here. Don't argue that.

It would have been 30 inches of snow and -45 had it not been for global warming!

The Farmers almanac is predicting lots of snow for us this winter. We usually get a couple of weeks where the low hits -30. Personally, I love it. It's good for business and also great for hunting and tracking. Early snows mean the elk and deer come down to reasonable elevations, otherwise you're going up to 12,000 feet to have a chance.

Shot my .300 win mag. Goddamn!!! That bastard sure can hurt your shoulder. But it will be good for big game hunting in Big Sky country. I plan on taking a week and going to either Colorado or Montana and try to bag something nice.

I plan on taking a week and going to either Colorado or Montana and try to bag something nice.I bagged 4 blue grouse a couple of weekends ago. I will be going down to the plains, east of Denver, in a couple weeks for antelope. Deer season is in early November and I drew a late season tag for elk (December)
Yeah, the .300 does give you a good kick. That's why I told you to get a heavy stock and heavy barrel before you bought one.
If you are gonna hunt Colorado, you have to put in for your tags by April 5th. You can still buy an over the counter Bull tag or try to get a leftover license. I don't know about the hunting regs in Montana. BTW, an non resident bull tag is $480 dollars here, so if you are going to spend that kind of money, I suggest you use an outfitter.

I'm actually all for climate change ****ing up traditional wine-making regions. Because if that happens, it'll just open up NEW wine-making regions, and we'll get a bunch of new wine to try.
Who knows, maybe the Oregon soil and slightly warmer, drier climate will create some spectacular merlot. Wait, never mind, merlot is boring. Shiraz.

Yeah, I hope so. Of course, when something has been done spectacularly right for hundreds of years, its hard to see change as a good thing.

A question for you wine afficianadoes. My wife calls me a wine snob because I prefer Italian and French wines. I just think they're better than the California varieties, at least to my taste. What do you gentlemen prefer?

Mmmm Chimay blue label.... that shit's good any time sukie. :)
I love Australian Shiraz lately. I also rather like Montepulciano from Abruzzo, or Sangiovese. I like wine that has character. Most cheap wine is just, well, cheap, but Shiraz is often pretty good for around $10. Depends on what's for dinner.
If you're talking white a nice oakey Chardonnay is awesome. (Dr Frank's Reserve if you want Finger Lakes goodness) I do like quite a few NYS Rieslings too...
I'm not too picky. :)

Hint: when you go to these places... Don't be rude and say to the sample server... "Which one of dees wines would dju recommend to get da best buzzzsss?"

I do strongly prefer California wines. Such as Sebastiani or Simi. Both very nice. Aussie wines are nice too. French and Italian can be fantastic or terrible (some taste like they are aged in the barrell too long.
My favorite though? Simi Chardonay 1991. Outstanding.
