I am doing an e-mail draft, so I have time to consider this.
My pick will be second to last in the 5th round/2nd in round 6.
With my Round 5 pick should I go after Daunte Culpepper? (I am pretty sure he'll be available, but I think the guy who picks twice in between my picks might be targeting him too.)
If I don't go after Culpepper, my target is going to be Jake Delhomme the next time it goes around. (I will also consider getting him anyway as a backup even if I do get Culpepper. I really think Delhomme is going to be a solid fantasy player this year.)
So, do you guys think Culpepper will return to his previous form (in terms of fantasy production), or would it be better for me to continue building up at the major positions and draft a different QB later on?
Thanks for your input.
And in case you are wondering, this is my team so far:
QB
WR Santana Moss
WR
RB Steven Jackson
RB LaMont Jordan
Flex Reggie Bush
TE
K
D
(6 bench spots)

I'd take Delhomme over Culpepper.... of course when I do fantasy drafts I sometimes forget that its a fantasy draft not an actual football team draft.

Delhomme is the safer option - you know what you get. Culpepper has many question marks. Injury, new team, an offense line that's not as good as the one he had his best seasons behind.

Well it turns out Culpepper didn't make it to me.
So I'm going to spin the question otherwise, should I take Delhomme this time through (Round 5/6) or hope he'll make it to Round 7? There has been a big run on QBs this round, and now there are only 3 other teams in the league without a QB, and McNabb, Bulger, Green, Warner, Bledsoe, Brees are all still also on the board for other people to look at.
My real worry is that teams who took QBs early might eye Delhomme as a backup as the draft cycles around again. Thoughts?

In addition to my previous post, McNabb was just taken, so now only 2 other teams do not possess a QB. 2 picks before I am up.

Alot of people are over looking Warner as well. I think you should get a pretty good choice at at QB if you think you have a better WR available. Take a chance the worswe youll need to do is draft a pretty quick back. But I seen alot of leagues that Delhomme is being overlooked. Whats your wr available situation

The rest of that round finished with everyone picking a QB, I even lost Delhomme at the turn because I chose Donald Driver with my round 5 pick. So at the opening of Round 6, I took Marc Bulger, because even though I would have preferred to just wait until next time, I didn't want to lose the next best QB option to some other team drafting a backup.
While I wish I had Delhomme, I am happy with the Bulger pick (despite the fact that I now have a QB and RB from the same team, which could make things awkward). Also, with the WR options left, I didn't want to lose a guy who I knew I could expect 85 catches and 1200+ yards from.
Here is my team now:
QB Marc Bulger
WR Santana Moss
WR Donald Driver
RB Steven Jackson
RB LaMont Jordan
Flex Reggie Bush
TE
K
D

If I were you, I'd draft Trent Green soon b/c Bulger has had some injury issues and may miss a few games and Trent Green is a highly productive and underrated fantasy player who may end up beating out Bulger statistically anyway.

Should have gone with Delhomme. Throwing to S. Smith and K. Johnson = big year for a value late round pick.
