Southern rock, or blues-rock? or both. If both, which influence is more pronunced? (I take southern rock to mean country music influenced.)

Hard to tell, since southern rock and blues rock are so close. Take the Allman Brothers Band, they easily fit both categories. allmusic.com lists CCR plainly as "Rock & Roll", which might fit better. Imagine a Chuck Berry song sung by John Fogherty, and you've got CCR.

Yeah, both are very similar, i see them more blues oriented though.

southern rock implies lynyrd skynrd. CCR is not southern rock.
all music is blues influenced... so that apellation is useless.
CCR is hillbilly-hippie music.
