I know its a long shot and may sound homerish, but Chien Ming Wang should get some consideration, he's 13-4 with a 3.58 ERA now after tonights showing. I know its hard to put him ahead of guys like Santana,Halladay etc but this guy in consistanly going 7 +, although he doesnt strike alot of batters, but he gets the job done and along with Mussina he's been the Yankees most consistant pitcher...any thoughts?

Honostly he would prob have to pitch 8-9 inning shut out games the rest of the way to be considered

If he had been pitching like this the whole year he would def be in contention but he really didnt start doing what he is doing now untill late June

Here are those I'd put into the AL Cy Young mix:

Justin Verlander(Detroit)
Roy Halladay(Toronto)
Jonathan Papelbon(Boston)
Mike Mussina(New York)
Francisco Liriano(Minnesota)
John Lackey(L.A. Angels)-as a darkhorse candidate

Spoken like a true Yankee Fan - Only time will tell - I understand your thouhgts - But If you are high on your pitching your fooling yourself- Its early very early!Arms will start breaking down!!! If not which I doubt YEA Yanks are a lock MAYBE? but they are not built too go through September let alone October with that pitching staff- But only time will tell!!!

Im not high on the Yankees arms, infact Im comfortable with 2 starters, Mussina and Wang, but now the tables have turned on the Sox, they lose guys to injuries just the Yankees did early in the year, lets see how they handle it

I tell ya, Wang has way out done any expectations I had for him at the begining of the year

Hes been the ACE of our staff since the end of June and he is prob the 2nd best pitcher in the AL East behind Halladay.

I remember people calling into sports talk stations when the Red Sox got Beckett bitching that the Yanks should have tried to trade Wang and Cano for him. Lets just say I'm pretty happy that deal never went down
