Now that the Sabres have six proven NHL defensemen, do they still go after another depth d-man or are they set? We have Teppo, Tallinder, Lydman, Spacek, Kalinin and Campbell. They will probably retain Fitzpatrick and Jillson(as long as he doesn't want the world) for depth, and Nathan Paetsch, who is signed, I thought played a very good game seven in Carolina.
Is this enough or did last year scare everyone enough that we need more depth? In my mind, the series with Carolina would never have reached seven games if we were healthy, but that is all water under the bridge now. I think our top six are one of the best units in the league, but will they be able to stay healthy? I would be happy with one more d-man, but I do not want to take money from signing our forwards. If the forwards are signed and stay intact the sky is the limit this next season.

we still have to sign one of them, when we do we'll be one of the tops in the NHL

What happened to us last year on D we can't expect to happen again. We need the money elsewhere. I wouldn't be surprised if we pick up a D-man before the deadline next year if it looks like we can make another push though. It is a sick D and I expect the young guys to improve in Roch. and fill in when needed (say, giving Teppo some rest here and there to keep him rested for the playoffs). I think we're set once we sign Tree. The sky is the limit!

I think we're set, but Kalinin and Numminen are injury threats

Probably top 5 in terms of overall defense.

The top six look great. I do agree Teppo will need some rest, and I believe Paetsch can step it up. He is looking like he could be around a while.
