A friend of mine is working at a shitty customer service job and has worked there far longer than many of the other workers. She is passed over for promotion constantly even though she is far more qualified than some of the people that have been given these opportunities. Her bosses treat her condiscendingly and make a fool of her when she asks for promotion, or when she seeks clarification. She is not being trained stuff that most other workers are being trained for and then when she voices this concern they blow her off. What do you people recommend that she do. What can she do. Please I want to help my girl, but in this situation I have never had such a situation.

First off all, staying at a job like this is crazy. There are plenty of jobs in the market. If she needs some interviewing tips. Ask 35pete. He is great to speak with regarding job tips.

My motto is when in doubt get out.

She needs to get a new job. Bottom line. Tell her to give a '15 second notice' as she opens her car door. :niterider

Well.... Me personally, i'd tell the guy to go **** himself and quit,.....

But I don't have a key part of your situation.....the "she" part.... It would seem to me that she may have a case of sex discrimination, and she should consult someone about that.

Find out if her Boss is a guy, and if the people passing her buy are guys.....

Sounds like they want her to leave.

I think if it happens once, a less experience / less qualified person gets promoted ahead of you, you could chalk it up to bad luck. But more than once, you have to look at other issues. Personality clash, the employee is difficult to work with, has had attendance problems, or some other variable working it's way into the supervisor doing the promoting not wanting to work with the employee. Tell her to start looking for another job.

maybe she just sucks at her job, but you are giving her the benifit of the doubt because you are her buddy. perhaps she should stop whining and go ask someone what the problem is and be open to what she is told

I'd say don't burn bridges but obviously they don't like her. Get another job and leave ASAP with NOTICE.

Yes, you could walk out but it is STILL on her record (so easy to verify employment records so don't leave it off future applications).

They don't like her. But blowing them off would give them more ammo to hit her with if a future employer called to inquire.
