Pete: First of all welcome to Listen Up!
Pete: What brought you to the Range? How often do you particpate?
EVANSROCKS I saw an article in the Buffalo News saying that BillsInsider.com had a leak of the new jersey’s in 2002 so I checked it out and then decided to read the forums. After reading for awhile I signed up as Mvick80 (was a huge fan of his at VT) and jumped right into the mix. I used to be really immature with my posts, I used a lot of caps and exclamation points and called people names. I was also hated for being anti Drew Bledsoe even before we got him. I get no respect even though I’m basically always right and I am in no way a sarcastic person nor would I ever use an inside joke on the boards to confuse people for my entertainment. My participation is ridiculously high but it’s basically the only website I ever visit and it really is an addiction.
Pete: Who are the three best Bills posters, excluding yourself? Why?
EVANSROCKS There’s a lot of great posters and everyone has their strengths. If I name the top 3 IMO I’ll probably piss a lot of people off so here it goes. Shiva2999 because he pwns not only noobs but leets and it’s hilarious the way he toys with the masses. TheAnswer74 because he is a smart guy who forms his own opinions, the only thing I don’t like about him is that he is almost as arrogant and bull-headed as me. I’ll finish it up with CoachC because he adds a lot to the technical sides of discussions.
Pete: How long have you been a Bills fan? How old were you when you went to your first game?
EVANSROCKS I’ve always liked the Bills being a Buffalonian and a huge football fan but I first really fell in love with the team actually in the 2001 season. I loved watching Moulds tear it up in 2000 and so I began following them more closely after that. I have never experienced a Bills playoff game because in the glory years I was too young to care. My first Bills game was I think a pre-season game between the Bills and the Bengals, My first regular season game was I believe was against the Raiders in 2002.
Pete: I understand that you just finished your first year at UB. How is it going? What are you studying? What are your ultimate career plans?
EVANSROCKS School is cool. I am studying Business Management, I have a 3.9 GPA because I had a horrible teacher my first semester in Calculus. I usually don’t like when people blame the professor but this guy was god-awful and I couldn’t understand a damn thing he said. I’m considering taking the class over again to try and get a 4.0 overall GPA. The thing that drives me to do well is my dream of working for an NFL front office someday.
Pete: You and I both grew up in Clarence. But judging from your love of WNY it appears that if at all possible that you plan on staying. If so, then what town do you eventually want to settle in and why?
EVANSROCKS C-town baby! Clarence 4 life. Greatest place ever. In an ideal world, Buffalo makes a comeback and I work for the Buffalo Bills for a long period of time and reside where I am now.
Pete: Do you expect to see a substantial change in the performance of the Bills defense this year? Better? Worse? The same?
EVANSROCKS I was recently watching a tape from the Bills 2004 season and I noticed that the Defense was much more aggressive and swarmed to the ball better than in 2005. I think a lot of this had to do with the team’s mental state going into the season (cough, QB situation, cough) and some aging. The loss of Big Pat and TKO were also obvious blows. I expect a better performance for several reasons.
1. Better management at the Front office… Trust in the Marv
2. Better management from the coaching staff… Mularkey was a spineless, clueless, puppet. Jauron seems to have the players respect.
3. Added youth and speed. Tripplett will bring some intensity and athleticism to the trenches and I love Whitner and McCargo. TKO’s leadership and passion will rub off on the unit as he returns. Posey will be pushed hard and I think ultimately replaced by Crowell or even Josh Stamer, both of whom have displayed much more emotion and playmaking ability than he has. Kyle Williams could surprise this year too.
4. Scheme… gone is the complicated system Gray ran, in is the simple “Tampa-2” defense which relies less on outsmarting teams and more on just manning up and outplaying them. When players have a lot of thinking to do it can create hesitation. This defense unleashes the guys to run to the ball and be aggressive.
5. Clements will not suck so much. He was horrid last year. I expect him to play hard and try and earn a big payday. I don’t see us keeping him; I just wish we could get something in return. I don’t mind the fact that he’s leaving as much as that he leaves for nothing. CB’s are overrated these days and not at a premium in a cover 2 plus I’d much rather spend money on some stud pass-rushers.
Pete: Ahh, the proverbial question. What about the QB situation in Buffalo. How do you see it?
EVANSROCKS Holcomb will likely start as he should but I think Nall has a better shot at it than most people would think. I like Losmans potential down the road but I need to see more leadership and maturity from him. It would be great for someone so in touch with the area to eventually take the job though.
Pete: What is your opinion on the situation with Briere and the Sabres?
EVANSROCKS Briere is likely gone by next year I think. We simply can’t afford to tie up so much money in one guy. I also feel that Drury is more important to the team and therefore should be the highest paid player. You also have to think about locking up guys like Miller to long term deals down the road. It is unfortunate because he was a nobody until Buffalo gave him a chance and we had such a great run last year, you would like to think that would help in negotiations. I also don’t like the situation this causes with Max. He is one of the most exciting players in the league and will likely receive a large deal from arbitration and that coupled with the Briere thing will force Darcy to make some uncomfortable moves and the most obvious one is to trade Max. In my opinion, Afinogenov is everything that is great about the Sabres. Speed, playmaking, unselfishness.
Pete: Do expect the Sabres to have a repeat performance this year or will they suffer a "hangover"?
EVANSROCKS The Sabres will be back next year and will win the cup. Mark it down.
Pete: Who is the hottest woman on the planet? Do you have a pic to share?
EVANSROCKS I don’t know I haven’t really thought about that one. I love darker haired and skinned girls who have tight petite bodies and sexy abs. I am a sucker for latin girls like Eva Longoria.

Damn you Tony Parker….
You also have Rihanna, Adriana Lima, Jessica Alba, Sofia Vergara, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Penelope Cruz, Ana Beatriz Barros…. Latin girls are the best on the planet!
But as of right now I’d say this girl is the hottest:
Alessandra Ambrioso

Um, yea.
Thanks for the question Petey!
Pete: What are the Bills 3 best moves over the past 3 years? There 3 worst moves?
EVANSROCKS Off the top of my head some of the best moves:
1. Signing Takeo
2. Drafting McGee
3. Firing TD and replacing him with Marv
and among the terrible ones:
1. Letting Pat walk/Neglecting the D-line (DE)
2. Neglecting O-line… Imagine we had chosen some guards instead of Roscoe Parrish, Kevin Everett, Tiny Tim Anderson, Chris Kelsay/Ryan Denney, Sam Aiken, Tim Euhus, or even, gulp, JP Losman (could have gotten Shaub and not traded that 1st rounder the next year)….
3. Hiring Mike Mularkey over Charlie Weiss (or Crennel or Smith or...)
Pete: Who are the best coaches on the Bills? Who are overrated or questionable?
EVANSROCKS I love Steve Fairchild and Bobby April a lot. I am warming up to Jauron and I don’t know much about Perry Fewell. McNally is also a great coach in my opinion even though he gets mixed reviews. I hear great things about the new D-line coach Bill Kollar. I have some questions with our strength and conditioning coach since he is young. Losing Rusty Jones in favor of Mularkey’s buddy was a huge f-up. I’m not really sure what the hell Chuck Lester does…. AVP will be a great coach someday, the man is brilliant.
Pete: What is the strongest division in the NFL right now? Why?
EVANSROCKS I’ll try to be unbiased and say the NFC East. All four of those teams have playoff potential but only 3 at most can get in. That division is stacked. Next I’d say the AFC West and AFC North.
Pete: Do you think that the Sabres signing of Tallinder to a multi-year contract was worth what the contract stipulated?
EVANSROCKS HUGE signing. When I first heard the news I was ecstatic. We locked up a young stud d-man to a fairly long term deal for dirt cheap. He’s our best defenseman and now he sets the market for Lydman and Kalinin and others to sign for cheap too. If I said to someone without any idea what happened this offseason to tell me who got 4 million a year and who got 2 million a year between Henrik and Jay McKee they’d be wrong.
Pete: Who will be the Bills MVP this year and why? What Bills do you expect to make the Pro Bowl?
EVANSROCKS The Bills MVP? Tough call, I hope we will be like the Sabres where it is tough to find one guy like that. I like Terrence McGee’s chances, he’s one of my favorite players along with Jason Peters. Those are the kind of guys that build championship squads. I think we have a lot of players with Pro Bowl POTENTIAL but we need to have a good season. McGee, Peters, Evans, Clements, Vincent, Spikes, Schobel, and Moorman have the opportunity.
Pete: Any final thoughts or comments?
EVANSROCKS Um, I am probably faster than you. I’m obsessed with O.A.R. and will be at their concert this week. I have a crappy job. I think if JP starts we will have the hottest offense in the NFL, I’m a big fan of his hair and started that whole mess on these boards. I don’t speed. I am a health/fitness nut. Psychology is among my favorite subjects. I really wish the Bills could swap LE and QB with the Panthers. I enjoy long walks on the beach and want to know how your day was.
Don’t hate. Spread love. Enjoy Life. 2k5 ain’t nothing to mess with.
