closing this place would be sad.... There are no other major amusment parks anywhere nearby cept for what Canada's Wonderland???

hopefully they do not dismantle the place and do what? build houses there who would buy them?

Darien Lake is worth saving!!!

If you agree encourage this company to consider purchasing darien lake from six flags.....

Cedar Fair looks like the only other legit national theme park company now...they just bought Canada's Wonderland and all of the other Paramount theme parks.
Darien Lake could be sold to an independent group as well, or the land sold and the area turned into a park or something like that.

DL will survive. Its had how many owners already? And each new owner makes it bigger and bigger.

That would really suck! When I still lived in Buffalo we used to go to Darien Lake every summer. That's where I rode my first loopty loop coaster. The other place we used to go to was Crystal Beach. It wasn't as great as Darien Lake, but I have many fond memories from those trips into Canada. Someone needs to buy it, maybe Tom G. :)

I just thought about it...it would be unlikely for Cedarfair to buy Darien Lake because they already own Cedar Point in Ohio and just bought Canada's Wonderland so that's three parks within a 250 mile radius. It wouldn't be good for three of their own parks to compete with each other since they essentially would be serving the same people in that 250-mile area. So scratch Cedarfair off the list. Anheuser-Busch wouldn't buy it either, they're all set with what they have already (in VA and FL).
I'd look for a private investment group to buy it--as for who specifically I don't know.

well ceadar fair will not buy it . If someone does not buy it six flags will turn it into crap and more people will leave western ny.... not that darien lake will prevent anyone from leaving.

I just camped up there this past weekend, got home yesterday. It was fun, they've been adding new stuff every year, mostly water stuff, its pretty cool. There was a good crowd up there this weekend, I hope it doesnt close, and I can't see it closing either. I've camped up there every year for the last 15 years.
