He called Jay Mariotti of Around the Horn and the Chicago Sun-Times a homosexual slur. "What a piece of [expletive] he is, [expletive] fag. Then later, "I don't have anything against those people. In my country, you call someone something like that and it is not the same as it is in this country.''

Ozzie Guillens a piece of shit not Jay. It's a shame that he actually has a job as a manager. He's called out Joe Torre and A-rod and then the thing with the rookie pitcher. He's just a horrible person, he should not have this job.

Read the column that got Ozzie fired up here: http://www.suntimes.com/output/mariotti/cst-spt-jay16.html
Using a baseball as a weapon is dangerous. Watching Ozzie Guillen order a kid pitcher to retaliate with a weapon is frightening. And when that kid pitcher fails to be a goon-on-demand, prompting Guillen to rip into a humiliated Sean Tracey, I am left to ponder three disturbing thoughts about the Blizzard of Oz.

Has he officially lost his mind?

Are his priorities in sufficient order to manage the White Sox to an encore title?

And is he involved in so many rants and raves and headline-grabbing incidents, about two a week these days, that he's burning all of us out -- including his players?

Ohhh, NOW I see why it was ok to call him a f ag. :shakehead

Mariotti has every reason to rip him, as Ozzie does in return. You get warned or banned from a Message Board for calling someone that. He should be suspended by the league and/or the team.

I think the saying 'this is ok in my home country' excuse is a load of garbage.

this is the second time recently that i've heard such an excuse. there was the priest or some official of the church who would kiss/hug all the women in the room when he entered and he said that's just how we do it in my country...i think it was lebanon. turns out that's now how they do it in his country.

Hate him all you like....but know this: He wins. Guaranteed,if Buffalo had an MLB team and Ozzie was managing it-and winning reguarly,we'd probably like him.

Calling out A-Rod's justified. Explain to me,besides the stats he puts up year in and year out, what he's led ANY team to in his career. Oh,that's right: NOTHING. Derek Jeter,on the other hand, has paced the Yanks to 3 World Series titles, was the World Series MVP,has been captain of the team-and has played at a clip that will probably get him into the Hall of Fame the first time his name's on the ballot.

Granted, dropping that bomb on Jay Mariotti was dumb-as was the whole matter with the rookie pitcher. (I can see where he's coming from-if an opponent does you wrong, you should respond-but don't berate them if they don't.) My riposte would be "Stop appearing on Around the Horn so damned much and COME to the damned game and say what you said to my face!"

Are you promoting a Jim Kelley/ Hasek replay? If so, that is not right. A reporter writes, a player plays. As long as each sticks to that, all is fine. When a player, in this case manager, decides to respond to what is written he has lost the game. Ozzie has lost it, and doesn't deserve to get it back. Not whwn you apologize to the GayCommunity, by using "air quotes" to say "whoever I may have offended". It's about time a guy who has been in the country over 25 years finally starts acting like a citizen, and not a foreign dignatary who believes he has free reign to say anything w/out repercussion.

Either that,or he has to learn to dial down his intensity a bit-otherwise,he's going to go from a good manager to a fired one.

Ozzie may very well have gotten off easy with a fine and "sensitivity training",but what's to say there won't be a next time? And if there is,guaranteed the punishment will be many times worse.
