With the recent tragedy of Ben Roethlisberger, how many of you wear a helmet?

This subject hits close to home because one of our friends in Texas had a similar accident. The young man was on break from the Texas A&M, he was going on a football scholarship and some guy ran a stop sign at night and they collided. He flew over the vehicle and sustained massive head injuries. It took him two years to walk again and then not very well. We still talk to his parents, he is doing OK, but his bright future was wiped out in an instant.

Do you think helmet laws are unfair and a usurption of your personal freedom or are they necessary to protect people from themselves.

When I was riding I always wore a helmet, it was the law, but I would have worn one anyway.

Your take?

I've always worn the best helmet I could afford.

Whether you consider yourself the best rider in the world, machines can still break.

There is always a chance you can get thrown down the road for reasons totally beyond your control.

I wouldn't have expected such safety precautions from the resident "Alpha Male".

Being an alpha male doesn't mean you have to be a ****ing idiot.

No, but I thought fearlessness was part of the equation.

Fearlessness only makes you a candidate for the Darwin Awards.

I remember when I first started riding, had a '69 Triumph Bonneville, lots of chrome and kicked up engine. I was going over the big bridge in Port Colburne and had never been on grating before, almost took a digger.

Alway wore a helmet, at times driving down a back road on a nice summer day,I would take it off and slowing cruise up the road. Then I got a bee right between the eyes and almost put me down. lol

I wear a full wrap around Arai helmet. If there is one thing to spend money on its protecting your head. No one sees people on motorcycles as it is why take any extra chances.

I always wear a full face (not a law in Utah), and I NEVER ride at night - if it can be avoided.

I wear a full-face HJC. I was looking at an MX-style at Royal Distributing in Sudbury today, but will probably put that off until next spring...
