The NLL has signed a deal with Versus to have a game of the week next year on Saturday nights. I do like this better then signing with ESPN where the games are tape delay and played Tuesdays in the afternoon when most people are working like the MLL deal. And if NLL Outdoor ever comes about that could probably be on Versus too, giving us all year round lacrosse. So Versus has the NHL, AFL, NLL and Bull Riding. Better then the NBA all the time like ESPN.

I'm surprised Versus hasn't worked out a deal with the MLL as well. They already have Beninati doing NHL games. He also does MLL play-by-play on ESPN 2.

Agreed, but I think MLL's deal will have to lapse before Versus can pick it up.

I think a reason that Versus would not pick up the MLL would be NLL Outdoor. We have heard all the rumors that the NLL will have an outdoor league in all of its cities for the summer of 2007. But if the league comes to reality, I am sure the NLL would want their summer league on Versus, not the competition. Things would be intresting if there was two pro summer leagues. Granted you could see a merger, like the NLL did with the MILL, even though the NLL had never played a game and had no teams (but Buffalo was going to leave the MILL for the NLL).

I have heard them say "a merger of 2 leagues" a cpl times in interviews. So a MLL/NLL wouldnt be to far out there.

MLL is already contracted with ESPN.

Which brings us to the next question,
If the MLL/NLL did merge, could buffalo support a major league lacrosse team?
haha

Well I dont think the MLL and NLL could merge, its two diffrent kinds of lacrosse.

However, if you meant the NLL outdoor league, if it happens, joins with the MLL, then yes, Buffalo could. If they do have an NLL outdoor league, my understanding is that every NLL city would have an outdoor NLL team. So, I think we'd do well, because most all Bandits fan would probably attend, I know I'd have season tickets for sure.

Wouldn't NLL outdoor just be box lacrosse played in the summer instead of the winter, or would it be the 10-on-10 regular kind?

Considering that Rochester CAN support the MLL,and has done so for years. In fact, they've now got a nice new stadium where they can show their stuff, and the Rattlers and Rhinos don't have to share Frontier Field with the Red Wings.

All that was missing from smashing's post was the cymbal riff.

Oh,and the rain of boos for the crappy attempt at humor.

NLL outdoor would be a field league and would have certain advantages for players over the MLL. It would be an interesting situation that would make life tough for the MLL as well as summer Canadian box leagues.

If it is a field league, I can name one advantage it would have right off the bat. It wouldn't be owned by the guy who owns Body-by-Jake. I saw that and thought "you've got to be kidding me".
