So, there I was, watching Meet The Press, trying to take my mind off of the Sabres' defeat and distract myself with lighter issues like the war in Iraq and the state of the union and whatnot...

The end of the show comes up and in Tim Russert's closing comments he said the following: "...and lastly, Thank You Buffalo Sabres for a fantastic season" with a sad look on his face and his head shaking in disbelief.

That pretty much sums it up for all of us. Just can't believe that the season is over and that it ended the way it did. So close.

So close.

I remember Russert talking about how he grew up in Buffalo and went to one of the Catholic/Jesuit-run highschools there. I figured he'd be a Bills fan, but it's nice to see he's a Sabres fan also.

Wow, I'm shocked. A Buffalo born and raised guy likes the Sabres? Holy Shit!!

Jeez, first time watching tv? Tim Russert's the BIGGEST media guy out there rooting for any Buffalo team, bigger than Berman(not size-wise).

Russert is a long time loyal Buffalo Sport fan. It was nice that he mentioned that. I only wish he had annouced that we won the Stanley Cup.

Geez, gimme a break. I don't watch American news/talk shows that often, and I just happened to catch him channel surfing, and he was talking more about his Jesuit upbringing. They happened to mention football once in that segment. Pardon me for assuming that every Bills fan isn't necessarily a Sabres fan.

I go to the same school that he graduated from... and live in the same part of town he grew up in.

If you want to see a good Russert take on Buffalo the one by NFL films takes the cake. It's a 30 minute special on the short coming of the Bills in the Super Bowl, but Russert is actually in tears talking about how much the Bills mean to his family and Buffalo.

I'm almost positive it was Canisius High School that he graduated from. And let's not forget Wolf Blitzer who is also a Buffalonian.

Don't do it. Stay at 999. That is balls. :D

Walk away proud, like the guy who had 499 Homeruns, or 2999 hits, or... You get my drift. :D

Just bought my old man his latest book for Father's day. Russert is a class act and does a nice job of asking the questions you want answered compared to the badgering or implied slander from Fox.

He is such a big fan that he was at two Wizzards/Cavs playoff games in DC while the Sabres were playing. Twice between periods I flipped to that NBA series at they showed Russert. One of those two times Wolf Blitzer was shown at the NBA game.

Tim Russert=fake sabres fan

If you work in radio or TV you do not leave town during sweeps month. May is TV sweeps. I can understand him missing.

So he cannot stay home and watch the game? Instead he watches the Wizards.
