RBA is a douche...the leadership of the sabres is a hell of a lot better than the leadership of the canes...id take briere and drury of rob anyday

Dude, that game and the series were as close as it comes. A bounce here or there and the Sabres win game 7, and RBA's pre-game speech is long forgotten and people focus on his crappy play in game 7 (which he himself admitted in a post-game interview) and how he let his team down. Too often people make too much out of such theatrics. I'm not questioning RBA's leadership, I'm sure he's a decent leader -- but there's just as much quality leadership in the Buffalo locker room. They wouldn't have made it to game 7 of the ECF if they hadn't. Leadership didn't make the difference in this series. A few bad breaks, a few lucky bounces, a few bad injuries, that made the difference --

brind'amour is a great leader, no doubt about. he scored the series winner.

He was their team - his faceoff dominance and grit made him worth retaining. He was one of the guys I yapped about for leadership last fall when Allison's name was being tossed about. Drury is a similar leader without the battle scars to prove it. The problem is that Drury wasnt on the ice with a Weight or Stall, he had Grier and Hecht.

I'm sure Drury is glad that he doesn't have the 18 time broken nose battle scar.
