Was there some sort of outcry over a spate of pucks being deliberately shot out last year that I missed? Seems to me the league decided to impose a silly solution on a problem that seemingly didn't really exist. They just can't seem to leave well enough alone.

Didn't Kasparitis throw the puck over the glass? I know someone did it, I just can't remember who it was.

I think you're right - he did. If I recall, he got a penalty for delay of game though, as he closed his hand on the puck and threw it. That's a legit call. IMO last night's, and many others this season, are the kind that do nothing except make hockey players timid, and affect the game negatively. I really wish Gary Bettman would stop "fixing" the game.

I agree with McKenzie on one thing: giving referees any kind of grey-area just encourages them to screw things up.

I've always said the new rules were dumb. This is just example # 409,346 ;)of why they're dumb.

He did.

No penalty, though: http://www.hockeynut.com/0001/playoffs2001/boxscores/bufpit7.html

That game still pisses me off...
