Well they did play the last period (well I might add) with only 5 defensemen. There was no way Janek was seeing the ice so Rory is all that is left.

I also thought Kalinin has stepped up thus far, although he may take a step back with Teppo out of the lineup.

I would also add that there is no way in hell Rory comes in and plays worse than Lydman played in game 1, no matter how much some people hate him on this board

wow, how serious is this? Does he have a pre-existing condition? Heart problems are scary things.

Teppo has had a heart condition for a couple years...it's why he retired in 2003.

Rory Fitzpatrick will do fine...he's no worse than half the Flyer defensive line and he'll be pumped up to get some playoff time. Besides, he played pretty well the last 5-10 games of the season.

I totally agree with you there. If the Sabres could still win with that performance from Lydman, they can win with Fitzy back in.

He's filling his role. This is what he's here for. This is what 7th defenseman are and do. How many other 7th defensemen out there are any better than Rory?

Numminen's calm, cool, and nearly mistake free decisions on the blue line will be sorely missed. But this team has faced injury adversity plenty-o-times this season. Sabres should still win the game 4-2.

Hi Stalker! Where ya been?
I said I dont use stats to try to win knock-down drag out arguements. Im not arguing anything here, I just didnt know anything about Fitz so I looked him up and found his reg season production far below the guy you lost. Just a simple comparison for my own curiosity. Nice try.

When does the thread bitching about Regier not making a trade show up?

Fizzy will do fine.

I think he had a swollen Aorta for a long time. It scares me he is in danger and that Fitzpatrick is playing. The worst player on the team is now playing and our Veteran D man is in danger of a serious heart problem. Scary.
