Ed Hinkel, WR from Iowa. This guy is another Don Beebe-type receiver. Tough as hell, quick, good hands. I'd like to see the Bills take a stab at him with our 5th from HOU if he's there.

NFLfans.com rates him as an undrafted free agent. Great Blue North does not have him ranked in the top 300 players. Sign him up after the draft if you like him.

We've got plenty of 7ths....right...?

I'd definately take this guy in the 7th. He's not the fastest guy...not the strongest guy.... but he's got heart.

a great depth WR, and I wouldn't be surprised if he turned into the kind of guy who might win a couple games in his career....the kind of guy who steps up when the "stars" are having a bad day..... gets you that 7 yards on 4th and 6.

I could be wrong...but I love those hardworking guys from the Big 10....

Exactly. I'd bet anything he gets drafted, and winds up having a nice, long NFL career.

No he doesn't have Beebe's speed... but few do. Maybe a cross between Beebe/Tasker (when he finally got involved with the offense later in his career) is a better comparison.

And I like the call about him winning a few games in his career. I could see that. He's a hardworker and will give it his all, and his skills are solid enough. I don't see him getting to past the 5th round.... some team will fall in love with this kid for his heart and work ethic.

Sounds a lot like Tasker. They rate him pretty well on NFL.com. Sounds like a good return man, which is the last thing we need.

Personally I want a bigger wr if we take one in the draft.

We're talking 7th round though....

I would hope we'll take a 6'3 possesion guy in the 3rd-4th

I don't know much about him but think that we should spend draft picks on shoring up the lines. We are well stocked with okay backup receivers. Maybe this guy deserves a look as an undrafted FA.

I saw him play a couple times in '04 and at best he is probaly a 4th reciever who can be a good 3rd down or red zone reciever.

Might be worth a look in the 6th or 7th round or priority FA.

P.S...He's from Erie, PA might be willing to play close to home.

If your going to take a big WR, a sleeper that I love is

Maurice Stovall out of Notre Dame - 6'5" 222 lbs 4.61/40

He played in pro-style offense with Weis, could make an immediate impact.

"Strengths:
Has tremendous size and knows how to use his large frame...Has great body control and can make the acrobatic catch...Leaper who will go up and get the ball at its highest point...Strong and physical...Willing blocker who does a tremendous job in that area...Not afraid to go over the middle...A bit of a long strider who is deceptively fast...Came through with a huge senior season under Charlie Weis. stovall is certainly not a "sleeper". he's a first day lock.

True, many have him going in the 3rd, but I would consider him a sleeper as far as being underrated and going sooner.

hinkel's no beebe, he has the potential to be a poor man's ricky proehl.

hinkel is drew haddad with a touch of talent.

and he would definetly be drafted before a 6'3 or 6'4 possesion type. have you ever seen a 6'4 wide out for the rams in the last 10 years??

he'd be worth a 5th or a 6th. a steal with a 7th or as an undrafted free agent.

i'm guessing he'll get drafted in the late 5th round somewhere for be a 'high working, high character guy, who is willing to play special teams'.

iowa has put out a few wide recivers, all have pretty much sucked. tim dwight(doesn't suck, but what he did at iowa has never been duplicated in the nfl outside of his kick return on the super bowl for the falcons), kevin kasper, and kahlil hill. hinkel should definetly be better then the last 2, by a long shot and is probably a better 'pure wide reciever' then dwight, but he does not have the speed that dwight did when timmy came into the league.

That's obvious.

This guy plays very similar to the way Beebe did. How do you even remember the way Beebe played if you only started following the Bills around the time of the Music City Miracle? If you put a Beebe jersey on Hinkel, it would be very hard to tell the difference. Beebe wasn't just a burner, he was a shifty route runner with good hands, much like Hinkel.

My Sleeper that wont get drafted is Notre Dame WR Matt Shelton where ever he goes he will fight for a roster spot.

stovall is a first day lock because this is a horrid wide receiver class, at 6 '4 with 4.6 speed he should be a 4th rounder

he's not a speedster, he's a great possesion receiver that not many DB's can match up with his size and vertical leap. He sure made Quinn look good with some high, off the mark passes.
