Two of the men living in the two-story brick building at 1967 and 1969 Niagara St. were convicted of sexually abusing adolescent girls, state records show. A third man living on the site was convicted of rape in 1998 for several incidents that involved a 9-year-old girl and boys ages 11 and 14.
The rooming house is within walking distance of St. Stanislaus Kostka Roman Catholic Church, where some Niagara Street School students have been rerouted during the construction of the new school at the corner of 25th and Niagara streets.
The rooming house at the corner of 22nd and Niagara streets houses the highest number of violent sexual offenders of anywhere in Niagara Falls. But spread out across the rest of the city are dozens of other people who have been convicted of sex crimes.
Forty-one Level 3 sex offenders — those who have created the most egregious sexual crimes under state laws that require them to register with law enforcement agencies — have found homes in Niagara Falls after serving prison terms. More than two-thirds committed crimes against victims that were 16 years old or younger, state records show.
