One rumor yesterday: The Jets (No. 4) swap first-round picks with the Raiders (No. 7), who want a quarterback, and select Oregon NT Haloti NGata with the seventh pick. Such a move would raise questions about the future of DT Dewayne Roberston, who may not fit in a 3-4.

Jets | Rumor alert: NFL Draft trade
Tue, 25 Apr 2006 08:46:30 -0700

Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports one rumor making the rounds has the New York Jets (No. 4) swapping their first-round pick with the Oakland Raiders (No. 7), who want a quarterback. The Jets then select Oregon DT Haloti Ngata with the seventh pick. The Jets don't have a pure nose tackle for their new 3-4 scheme.

The trade really doesnt make sense to me

Young and or Cutler will be there at 7 for the Raiders

I agree, that trade does not make much sense, especially if the Raiders have all 3 Qb's rated about the same, 1 of them will be there at #7.

They're probably not that high on Cutler. That wouldn't be bad for us. If Leinart, Young and Ngata go before our pick, one of {Bush, Hawk, Williams, Fergusson, Davis} will fall to us. *drool*

Exactly . . . .I would be very excited.

first, i don't think vince will be there at 7, so i'd imagine the raiders have to trade up to get him. i'd think they'd have to swap with, or in front of the titans to do it though. unless the titans do go with the king of la.

don't see the jets doing it though.

I think if Vince is going to get picked before 7 it will be at #3 to the Titans.

If he gets by them then I dont think the Jets, Pack, 49ers have any interest in him

So if they want him it would make more sense to go up to #2 or else they are still at the mercy of the Titans at 3

Of course he won't, but that means one of the other four will (assuming 2 QBs and Ngata go before 8).

No way Bush falls . . but out of the group . . .it would appear as if D'Brick would be the one. This of course is IF 3 qb's and Ngata go ahead of us.

Didn't they try to trade Robertson to us a while back?? They need tackle help more than Def.

Not to us I think. But Robertson probably doesn't fit their new 3-4 defense.

This trade would set up this scenario if it happened:
1. Houston - Bush
2. New Orleans - Williams
3. Tennesee - Leinart
4. Oakland - Young
5. Green Bay - Hawk
6. San Fran - Davis
7. NYJ - Ngata

Leaving D'Brick on the board.

I'd take it in a heart-beat . . bottom line is, the teams above us will make our decision for us this year. It's lookin' like D'brick, Huff, Bunkley at this point.

Robertson may fit our scheme.... call NY Marv

and after NO takes Mario, let's see how much Charles Grant or Will Smith will cost

Sounds good to me, that would be perfect for us.

A miracle if we get D'Brick.

If we get D'Brick I will run naked 'round the house, or nothing more than tighty whities.

D'Brick won't be passed over 7 times. The 49ers for one could use some help on the O-line. Also don't forget the possibility of someone trading up when D'Brick is still there.
