Solution for "bad" economy

... go off on your own. So, some of us are smart enough to do their own thing; start their own business, be a consultant, etc.

Anyone here try that route? I've tried it in the past, and the needs of my other half didn't let me succeed (though the company I helped found is still going well on Main St in the Theatre Dist...). I'm considering giving it another shot in the not-too-distant future for the super-secret plan to return to WNY in triumph. :D

Just curious to see if anyone's tried it. There really is nothing better than to take your fortune into your own hands.
