....you all know who you are. ;)

If the Bills could get a new stadium, one third paid by the state, one third paid by Ralph, and one third paid by the federal government....would you be for or against the deal?

Please state why.

I'd avoid taking ANY money from the federal government, no matter what administration is in power at the time. Federal funds come with too many strings attached. We'd suddenly have our stadium shut down because we were beating up Fin fans, which Congress considers discrimination against Cubans.

:D

Interesting. Kind of what I expected to hear from anenjiner, but nevertheless an interesting point.

Anyone else?

Come on Pete and Sucky, I know you're just slavating to say something.

As much as I love my Bills, I am philosophically opposed to using federal funds to build a stadium. It is NOT the role of the federal government.

The fine taxpayers in Texas, Michigan, here in Florida, Wyoming, etc. should not be responsible for a third of a new stadium. Period.

Actually, stupid question now that I think about it.

No. But I would definitely be for one third paid by the state, one third paid by Ralph, and one third paid by Canisius85.

Even if it lead to a complete redevelopment of the Buffalo waterfront, encouraged small business investment, etc...

The federal government spends enough damn money as it is, regardless of which (to quote anEinherjer) republicrat is in office. Both parties DISGUST me when it comes to this. I wish just ONE congressman in the capital had a spine. Just one.

Enough pork. Corporate, state, municipal, whatever....Enough.

The two most recent arena projects in Ontario...
The Air Canada Centre...100% private money.
The Corel Centre (now Scotiabank Place)...100% private money, hell they even made the Senators ownership pay for the highway exit.

Damn socialist Canadians...

Why should the federal government spend money making America a better place when they can use the same money to go kill some foreigners in the name of freedom?

Good point. You are 19. We should bring back the draft, put your ass in the army, and make you waste the enemy in the name of freedom. That is unless you are a traitor?

Ohh come on... You'd get a college deferement and then kids like you could spit on the vets when they came home.

And while we're on this tip, recall that at least a couple baseball stadiums(L.A.'s Dodger Stadium and San Francisco's Pacific Bell...ERRRR,SBC....ERRR,AT&T Park)were built completely with private financing....the latter because the voters in San Fran vetoed tax hikes to pay for the stadium.

I can't keep up with the name changes any more either ckg!

I believe Joe Robbie Stadium was privatly funded too. In fact, it may have been the first, but don't quote me.

Pete would probably know.

I do believe that it was. In fact, the Fish bought back the naming rights and it is now called "Dolphin Stadium".

I'll just second Noc's statement. No further explanation necessary. In fact, my seconding is already longer than his succinct firsting, so I'll just hit "submit".

 Good catch Pete. Nice job Doug, making my previous point for me. Nice job, Canada, getting it right with 2 sports stadiums....

I'm glad I don't live in DC. They're getting jobbed by MLB for a new stadium. Eminent domain fights coming; they're going to have to move a bunch of gay dance clubs out of SE, heard this morning they want to find a new place to put 'em.
