Besides terrorism, the bill takes aim at the production of methamphetamine, a highly addictive drug that cannot be manufactured without a key ingredient of everyday cold and allergy medicines. The bill would impose new limits next month for how much relief a person can buy over the counter.

Allright...how the hell do the two have ANYTHING to do with one another?

i thought the patriot act was put in place to make it alright to violate privacy in the name of protecting americans from terrorism or some bullshit..... I had NO CLUE that we were gonna start including NyQuil purchase limits in it as well.....

I wonder if methlab wiretaps are that far behind....

I've already seen it in stores.... they won't let you buy more than one Dayquil....or a DayQuil and a Nyquil.....

I just don't know what this should have to do with The Patriot Act...

I don't know why its under the Patriot Act either. It could easily be put under the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act, though. Of course, requiring better record keeping by the pharma industry concerning sales and imports wouldn't hurt either. Not surprisingly, they've fought it for years.

Here in Tucson anything with seudophedrin (sp?) is no longer available in the aisles. If we want that we have to go to the pharmacy and they'll get it for you. Because this is going to stop the production of meth.

Actually, it probably will help... you definatly need these drugs to make it.....

Obviously imports will increase, it said Mexican Meth is on the rise....

as an aside, meth is stupid....

Actually I was a medicinal chemistry major my first two years of college back in 84-85. promptly romped and drank my way out of the program though....

The only thing I can remember is how to spell pseudoephedrine.

It makes so much sense now....

The problem with meth in Tucson is that much of it comes from Mexico. Now when we need something with pseudophedrine (Thanks for spelling Pete) it is difficult to get; one of the problems with living so close to the border. To be honest, I don't think this will really help, because those who want the meth will get it.

you are so full of crap

plenty of white people are already in jail for meth, and identity theft type crimes that go hand in hand with it. there is no color scale for taking people to jail. Meth is a huge problem here, and will be there eventually if it isnt already.

labs are very dangerous and the ingredients for meth are getting harder and harder to come by in america. importation from mexico is probably the main source of the crap right now.

and if people want to put a combination of coleman fuel, batteries, acid, sudafed and lye in their bodies so be it....i could however point out all of the crimes these folks carry out to pay for their habit. its kind of hard to keep a job when you are constantly wired then crash for days at a time. i dont even want to get into the dangers labs present to all of their neighbors

Hey. What can I say? I am changing lifestyle habits for the better. I am down to 15 beers a night and 3 grams a day of heroin. And at 4 packs a day of smokes from 6. Still eat at Burger King though for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The triple supersize of course.

And I get at least 6 minutes a day exercising (slow walking) at least every 4th day.

So I am on a roll here. To my health!!!

i'm just saying - i doubt that meth has the staying power of crack. now that's a drug.

speaking of meth - anyone ever see Devil's Playground... about the amish kids who get to **** around as much as they want before committing full time to the life? the kid in that flick was a meth addict. good movie.

What's a tweaker?

I have an idea. Let's make it really hard to get. Let's hassle innocent people to make it harder to make. Let's not regulate it at all. Let's let drug lords from Mexico and beyond handle the demand.

It'll be great for our kids! The meth (and other drugs) will be so much better! The quality and safety of the products will be off the charts!
