This guy would be an awsome addition to the Sabres roster for their impending playoff run. This guy plays with an edge, and is exactly the kind of hardworking, hardhitting, give it all you've got each night player that Lindy Ruff loves. But, he's a lot better than a Mike Grier. He can score goals too. Phoenix would want a lot in return for him. He played with Briere and Numminen in Phoenix. Coyotes fans call him their franchise player. But, as we have seen, no body is untouchable in the NHL. Wayne Gretzky was traded. Boston's apparent franchise player Joe Thornton was shipped off to San Jose. Just maybe, the Sabers could get the Doaner to play in Buffalo.

Put Shane Doan in a Sabres sweater and watch the transformation, its worth the perceived risk by far!

I'm not sure why there are people so down on Grier. The guy is an important cog on the sabres. His PK and checking line play is great - He's steady, positionally sound and doesn't get rattled. He also has terrific chemistry with Drury that goes back to their college days.

If we are going to add, then we need to add on the Blueline first.

Keep in mind that we still have Tim Connolly coming back and we'll need to figure out where to fit him in to our lineup.

On every team you need the right mix of both. This year the Sabres are very close to finding that mix and it might be as good as it will ever get right now.

I would entertain any offer for Doan. I saw an interview with his parents during the Olympics, he grew up working on his parents ranch and he seems like a good fella.

I do not think the sabres need doan. I think the team is fine the way it is.

I wasn't bashing Mike Grier's play in any way. He is a solid player and a leader in that locker room. I was just using Grier as an example to the kind of physical player that Doan is for those who don't know. The only difference is that Doan has the hands and is a goal scorer, where Grier is just a flat-out grinder.

I like Mike Grier a lot. But he's going to be an UFA and we have a glut of forwards. You have to be concerned with asset management.

I like Doan too, but we need defense.

Shane Doan would be perfect for the Sabres. Chemistry buzzsaw, do you even watch hockey? The guy is a tough, goal scoring, grinding player that wears his heart on his sleeve. he reminds me of, well, the Sabres. That being said, I don't think the Sabres will be looking for that kind of impact.

We already have 13 forwards for 12 spots. Who the hell are you going to trade away?

No doubt that Doan is a great player. So is Hasek. Is a trade strengthening a strength really that good an idea?

If darcy already has the decison not to resign grier, then i would definetly go after doan, but really we need defense. ::Caugh, mitchell, kuba, kubina::
