... 1000 games into his career and he still pulls chickenshit by going after guys like Fitzpatrick and Vanek. Classy.

Not to mention that he hit Vanek from behind after the play was over and LONG after it would've done anything to help his team.
Funny thing is, about 10 minutes earlier I was telling someone how well he was doing in the new NHL and how he'd adjusted his game from being a goon to being someone who could actually contribute on the scoreboard. After the Vanek hit, my comments about him weren't quite as positive. :)

Had to watch the TSN feed on center ice, they were showing clips about Domi like he was the one retiring. They should have sent Rob Ray from the 200s, down to center ice on a zipline to fight him. Domi sucks!

yep definitely an idiot, he was a great leaf in the old NHL when he could enforce and be a leader. He has no place out there now. 1,000 games is a great achievement regardless. going after fitzpatrick was fine but the vanke thing was just stupid. If he dosen't go after fitzpatrick to spark his team who can he go after? The sabres don't have a tough guy out there.

This whole Sabres team is tough. If you mean we don't have a moron waste of a roster spot player like Domi, then you are correct.

Sorry must disagree, Sabres as a team are far from tough. Not one guy would stand up to Domi and take one for the team. Didn't even have to fight him, just push and shove a bit, and no one did.

Tie carved himself a nice little career for a stocky fire plug guy with limited hockey skills. And made a nice chunk of change while he was at it.

Goose, McKee, Pyatt - any of those guys he could have tried to antagonize into a penalty.

Speaking of Ray, anyone else brewing a dislike for him now that he's in the broadcast booth?
I really miss Gare.

Although I don't like Domi, and I hate the leafs, Domi was trying to enforce the "hockey code". The "hockey code" consists of many different things, here are a few examples (in no particular order).
1. Don't showboat
2. Don't wear a visor if you're a "tough guy"/instigator
3. Don't bait players into dropping the gloves if you're not going to
4. Don't cheap shot players if you're going to turtle in a fight
5. Don't celebrate a lot after a goal if you're team is winning by 3 or more
6. If your team is up by 3 or more with one minute to go don't try to score
Domi was trying to enforce example #6. Vanek tried to score with 30 seconds left, that goes against the "hockey code" so Domi was trying to make a point.
The "hockey code" doesn't actually exist (ie the quotes) but whenever someone says you don't do that, that's because it's part of the "hockey code".
And if you ever have any question about the "hockey code" Don Cherry is an expert in what fits the "hockey code" and what does not.
I'm certainly not defending Domi and I personally don't always agree with the "hockey code"/Don Cherry (I guess those words would be interchangeable) but some of it makes sense.

Goose, McKee, Pyatt - any of those guys he could have tried to antagonize into a penalty.Exactly! Instead he tries to cheap shot players like Vanek, Fitzpatrick, Woolley, and Patrick.
And PG13. Perhaps you didn't see McKee ahen Domi went after Vanek. It's too bad the linesman got to McKee before he got to Domi.
Speaking of Ray, anyone else brewing a dislike for him now that he's in the broadcast booth?
I really miss Gare.Brewing? It's been like that all year for me and, I remember, a bunch of other posters here too.

#6 is absolute horseshit. Where's that, PeeWees? You haven't played in the NHL, you don't know what their code is. Domi's a dick, plain and simple.

The Sabres are tough, but more important Smart.
Game is won, they stood up as far as they could with McKee, but what Domi did was nothing to get suspended over....The payback was on the scoreboard and finished up by stuffing another one in with seconds to go.
Domi will get his. There are 4 more chances this season to stick one to Domi, since it doesn't look like we'll get a crack at the Leafs in the Playoffs this year.

Don't showboat? They showed Domi showboating on TSN, riding his hockey stick after scoring a goal with the Rangers.
Domi's not a tough guy, so the second one doesn't apply.
Domi baits players into dropping the gloves.
Domi turtles.
Domi score? The Queefs up by 3 goals? Hahaahahaha.

I guess you don't understand what I mean by tough. Tough is coming back from a 2-0 hole on the road against a team fighting for their playoff lives and winning 3-2. Tough is playing gritty and winning the small battles for the puck. The Sabres have done that all year. Thats my definition of tough.

My post wasn't defending Domi, all I was saying is it's my belief that's what he was thinking/doing. I dislike Domi as much as any other Sabres fan. It seems as though there's this "code" of what's wrong and what's right. And the code is usually applied as a defense for the actions of guys like Domi ("a hard working North American/Canadian player") and that defense is usually spouted by guys like Don Cherry (I'm not saying that I don't like him or there aren't times that I agree with him). And in the eyes of guys like Don Cherry all the better that he was cheap shoting a "lazy European" (make note of the quotations, it's not my belief that all European players are lazy) player like Vanek trying to run up the score on the beloved Leafs.
There's this thing about posting on a message board, sometimes the sarcasm doesn't come through in written text.

yeah not really referring to you Dreed, It's like people forgot what made Domi famous during the 90's. He fought probert and Dave Brown, those boys were tough. He has fought Brashear tons of times, Rob ray tons of times. He picked on Jason wooley once and all of a sudden he is a P$ssy.
