All of the latest rumors, news and notes from the NFL combine will be added here.
Day one is filled with interviews, weigh ins and medical exams, so the info is scarce. We'll use this thread (and you also if you find stuff) to post the little bits of info we get from the NFL network and other sources as the combine progresses.

Some early 225 results for some OL

-C.Chester 27 reps (Oklahoma, one of my sleeper picks, hes a little undersized at 280 but he plays bigger than he is)
-Greg Eslinger(Minny) 28 reps
-Will Montgomery(V.T.) 35 reps
-Jeremy Clary(Kansas St) 24 reps
-Rob Sims(OSU) 27 reps

Quick Notes:
-Marv was on the podium today and the only thing he said that is new is that he seemed to be leaning toward bringing in a young FA vet QB rather then drafting one to compete.
-D'Brick sounded good on the podium. Said he takes pride in his Job in protecting the QB
-Mario Williams said that he wanted to let teams know that he is versitile and can play a multiple of posistions such as OLB, DT, and DE
-There is a thread already on the Ngata and Cleveland stuff
-R.Bush measured in at 5'10 7/8 and 201 pounds
-D'Brick was 6'6 312

Yeah, Lutui weighing in at a svelte 334lb surprised me. I can't "weight" for the DT's.

The individual workouts finally begin this weekend. The offensive linemen and the first group of running backs taking center stage on Saturday, followed by the quarterbacks, wide receivers and the second group of running backs on Sunday. Check back on Monday morning for my review of the highlights and lowlights of those workouts.
In the meantime, here's a brief update of some of the pertinent combine storylines coming out of Indianapolis the past three days:
There seems to be more uneasiness than usual among NFL brass at this year's combine. The most obvious reason is the unsettled state of the collective bargaining agreement, which is garnering a great deal of attention from front office members and coaches who would prefer to focus solely on free agency and the draft at this point of the year.

The Bills were reportedly one of several teams that have interviewed Alabama QB Brodie Croyle.
TAKING IT AS IT COMES (http://www.noticias.info/asp/aspComunicados.asp?nid=149590&src=0)
Alabama quarterback Brodie Croyle can't help but think about the possibilities that exist with each team that chooses to talk to him. Those teams include the Broncos, with whom Croyle said he spoke this week.
But every time he pauses to consider the chances of going to teams that talked to him -- a roster that includes the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs -- he pulls himself back. There's no use for the mellow Croyle -- who says he disdained the intense glare of the spotlight that shone on him at 'Bama -- to consider what might not be.
"Everywhere you think you're going, there's probably a 102 percent chance you're not going there," Croyle said. "So you try not to think about it too much."

I hope the Jets do take Cutler. I seen him play, and he nearly willed the team to victory against my Gators. He made play after play. I think the Jets are going to bottom-feed for the next couple years, and Cutler will be getting pressured too much to relly hurt the Bills anytime soon. Leaving D,Brick...

Some Notes from Today 2/25/06
-Addai RB LSU had a great day running a 4.37 40. IMO hes moving up alot of teams draft boards. Hes a def early 2nd rounder
-Lutui IMO is the best guard on the board he showed good tech today and quickness to go w/ his power
-Jean-Gilles had a good day but is going to have to be drafted by a team that doesnt run alot of screens or sweeps
-Mangold is clearly the best Center and is almost a lock for the late 1st round
-C.Spencer(G Pitt) was immpressive, he ran the 40 in 5.23 which for a 350 guy is good and had 30 reps in the 225
-People are starting to pick up on one of my sleepers in C.Chester Guard out of Oklahoma. He ran the 40 in 4.88 and showed good tech all day
-Whitworth(Tackle LSU) improved his stock. He is showing to be more athletic than people thought. He could be a steal in the 2nd and or the early 3rd
I'll try and put up some more stuff later
I'm going to refrain from posting times and overall numbers b/c you can find them at various draft sites that we will post when they get posted

Of the o-lineman working out today, I was very impressed witrh teh athletic ability of Chris Spencer and Will Montgomery. Despite having added some weight recently, Spencer still managed to be ranked in the yo three in most of the agility drills throughout the day and he ran a 5.23. Montgomery really impressed completing 35 reps, running a 5.08 and finishing in the top three in the 20 yard shuttle and 3 cone drills.

Here's some highlights from stats from day 3
Tamba Hali - DE - Penn State
Measured 6-2, 275. He will work out
Haloti Ngata - DT Oregon
Measured 6-4, 338. He interviewed with the Giants, Bengals, Raiders and Rams. He said he prefers playing in a 43 over a 34 but can do either. He did 37 reps of 220 on the bench press, which is the most so far at the combine. He looks to be in great shape. He is certainly not the 380 lb "fatty" he was rumored to be by some on the internet.
Mario Williams - DE - NC State

The 40 time really does matter when evaluating WR and DBs. Holmes put a lot of pressure on himself for his pro day. I don't see why guys don't run every chance they get, unless they are hurt.

I agree to an extent
It only really matters if someone runs in the low 4.3's than his hype starts to build and the other side is if a WR hits the 4.6-4.7 range then some questions arise. As long as your between thoughs your stock wont rise or fall
The funny thing about the OSU pro day is alot of scouts really dont put alot of stock into the 40 times there b/c some scouts refer to there 40 as the "38 yard dash" lolol

lol. Agreed, the 1/10s of a second really aren't going to make a difference, but when the big guys run great times, or the smallish guys don't it definitely impacts their draft position. Here's my overall impression of today's Combine as aired on NFL Network.
First off, SPEED! All of these guys are fast! Gone are the days of using a sun dial to clock QBs and linemen. Some are as fast as running backs and receivers. And the receivers are bigger and stronger than years previous. Then again, this is the Combine where workout warriors can have a chance to move up in the draft.
Second, not all of the participants at the Combine scream NFL at me. In fact, several showed why the NFL holds this rehearsal every year. It's like the NFL's version of American Idol. For some at the Combine, their chances at making the NFL are as good as mine. But those who I saw "potential" in during the drills, tapae, and interviews include the following:
Jay Cutler is going to light up the NFL. Velocity on every throw stands out. Also can make every throw, knows it, and is decisive (throws to a spot where the receiver should be). Has a quick release that serves up fast balls.
Omar Jacobs is the classic sleeper of this class of QBs. Big, strong, fast, and has a high powered rifle of an arm with a scope along with a quick release. This guy was "spot on" every throw. Even more accurate than Cutler. Only problem with Jacobs is his unique delivery.
The QB from Alabama looked good. Doesn't have the zip or arm strength of Cutler, but gets the job done. He looks like he'd be a good third round pick.
The QB from Furman, E. Martin, also looks like a prospect.
Wide out Chad Jackson's 40 m run created the biggest buzz from the crowd. He also had soft hands to go with his eye popping speed.
Mike Hass, WR from Oregon State, displayed good hands but with possession receiver speed.
Notes from yesterday's viewing:
D'Brick is D'real Deal. Any other year, he'd be the #1 pick. Great interview skills as well.
The Center from Ohio State is another real deal. He looks like a first rounder.

Brandon Marshall ran a 4.49 at 6'4 225(?) . We can get him late and in a few years he's the stud #2 WR. All we need is a FA stopgap while he develops, maybe Koren Robinson? He may be too expensive, I don't know. Anybody have a link to a site w/ NFL salary numbers?

Wow. Is it me or is this group of prospects the most athletic ever. Unbelievable strength and speed is being displayed across the board. This is a really good year to be drafting high and often.
Through no fault of his own, I see Huff dropping a bit now. Cutler, Davis, Ngata and Williams seem to be solidifying themselves at the top of the draft, with guys like Bunkley and Lendale White and Deangelo Williams pushing to get in. Huff needs to match it if he wants to go top 10 or better.

Brodrick Bunkley did 44 reps. Is a solid 306lbs.
This guy looks really good. He is a big guy (not really fat just stout). If the big 2 our gone when we draft (Williams, D'Brick), I would like to see us trade down and pick up a extra 2nd round to get Bunkley.
I think this would be possible if one of the QBs gets to us (Cutler or Young), some team would probably be willing to trade up.

At first I was open to the Idea of the Bills trading up but at this point I say we either stay at 8 or move down b/c there is just to much talent in this draft to be giving up picks

Not terrible for a 338lb man, but I was expecting better.
Bunkley is impressing the hell out of me.
Lawsons time is pretty amazing. I think he is better suited as a LB in a 3-4 than a DE in a 4-3.

Yeah, I think we may have nailed that one in the mock.
Cleveland's other perfect fit is Ngata.
If they feel they need ngata more, trade down with them assuming Ngata is still on the board and draft Bunkley.
Pick up another high third round pick in the process.
Imagine picking three times at the beginning of round three, and getting three quality starters.
That is the difference in this league between being in the playoffs and watching them from home.
I'm all about amassing picks in the second, third rounds.

Yeah, I like where they are a lot better today than I felt before the weekend. I'm beginning to think taking Bunkley at 8 isn't a reach.
My revised top 10 for the Bills is shaping up like this:
D'Brickashaw Ferguson (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84322)
Mario Williams (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84323)___________Group 1 - Worth considering moving up for if they drop to 6 or 7 and costs no more than a 3rd round pick.
Reggie Bush (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84321)
AJ Hawk (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84320)
Haloti Ngata (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84317)
Vernon Davis (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84316)____________Group 2 - Great value at #8
Broderick Bunkley (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?p=1163434#post1163434)
Tamba Hali (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84318)_____________ Group 3 - Good Value at #8, but should consider a move down
Matt Leinert (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84315)
Michael Huff (http://www.buffalorange.com/showthread.php?t=84319)_____________ Group 4 - only take if available after trade down.
The top 2 would be the only ones worth moving up for, but I'd be extremely happy with any of the top 6 and satisfied with anyone in the top 8. So they should probably just stay put and take the BPA, unless the top 6 are gone, and they can drop down 1 or 2 spots to still be guaranteed Bunkley or Hali.

For all of our debating about Ngata, it now is unlikely he'll even be available. But that does mean someone else drops, Williams or D'Brick ?
I see the first 8 picks going like this:
Texans - Bush
Saints - Leinert
Titans - D'Brickashaw
Jets - Cutler
Packers- Hawk
49ers - Ngata
That leaves Young, Williams and Davis for the Raiders to choose from.
The Bills would then choose between who ever is left among Williams and Davis. Or they could trade down to someone wanting Young and select Bunkley or Hali.

I think right now Young is dropping and dropping as fast as Cutler is rising
The choice not to workout at the combine is killing him
He is really going to have to put on a show at the Texas pro day

Yeah, Cutler could have been the guy that drops one of the top tier guys in the Bills laps, but with Young dropping it's unfortunately going to be just a wash. That is unless he blows them away in Texas.

A wild card player who is now moving up and could become a top 8 pick is V.Davis.
People seem to be enamored(sp) w/ his freak like athletic ability and some have started calling him the "Randy Moss of TE's". While I think its to early to do that type of comparison it is representitive of the Buzz that is building around him

Mike Kudla DE 6-2 265 Ohio State did 45 reps !!! new record
He said he did 52 last June. Bench pressed 610
Stay away from him. He's getting weak.
Seriously, I thought he had short arms, which are great for doing the bench press, but bad for defensive ends.

I think maybe the ideal scenario for the Bills now might be a trade down to take Bunkley. They get a stud DT who has enough size, whose forte is pressuring the QB and who is one of the strongest players in the draft. And Mouldsrocks would like him!

LOL, yeah he is purely a workout warrior, though he did run pretty well too. He might be a nice special teams ace.
The bench press is a decent judge of strength, but really for o and d lineman, its the lower body strength that is more relevant. Both don't mean anything if I guy can't stay low and doesn't get good leverage and balance. That is why I still have Ngata rated significantly higher than Bunkley. Brodrick is top heavy. He looks like a freaking comic book hero the way his is built, but take a look at his legs. He does explode and shows decent agility, but he did every drill with his head down. Don't get me wrong, I was blown away by his measurables this weekend, but some of the wow may not directly translate into production on teh field.
I still think Ngata can stand to lose some more weight, like 15 - 20 pounds to regain some explosiveness. At 338 he is still impressive the way he moves, but at 320 he can dominate. Of course if he goes to teh 49ers and plays NT, he's good to go.
If Huff has a great workout today, I'd say the Bills are in great shape. All of the guys they may have interest in look like exceptional physical talents. Williams, Ngata, D'Brickashaw, Bunkley, Davis and possibly Huff all would look good in red, white and blue. Assuming at a minimum of Leinert and Bush get picked before teh Bills are up, at least one of these guys will be available. Add young and Cutler to the mix and the Bills can choose one of up to three of those six.
Somebody get Vince Young hooked on phonics, quick.

I don't think kudla is a workout warrior at all, he started at de on one of the best defenses in the country, he is certainly no pass rush guy but he can play maybe inside in a 3-4 or be a first down de as a run stuffer
