Well, it wasn't conventional, and it definitely wasn't pretty, but after 4 losses in a row, I'll take the big guy's trey to win it! Especially without G-Mac.

A super win, with some bonuses but many questions still remain and lots of work is left but you have to take some pleasure in what transpired last night. I know the Gmac haters will tell you they won because he wasn't playing and not in spite of him not playing. Really though I think it forced the other player to focus, get past their insecurities, and make some plays. Before you throw Gmac under the bus however I have to say that they won in spite of their own shortcomings and that in itself is a little positive. To win with 20+ turnovers, giving up 2 huge relatively uncontested shots at the end of regulation and overtime, allowing the one guy on the opponent that could beat you to go nuts, it shows character, heart etc. I think it was a great win, certainly was a season saver at least to this point, nothing further is guaranteed, but I really hope that the TEAM turned the corner last night and a little support from another player or two will make Gmac much more effective and the team better too
It was an ugly classic, capped off perfectly with T-Rob draining the 3 to win it. When he put it up, I figured game over, and it was, though not with the result I expected. Everyone contributed Nichols was huge, including a huge block on Douby in OT, Wright played well..14 points, and Darryl "Mookie" Watkins also hit 2 HUGE free throws toward the end of regulation, and I can not emphasize how huge that was, for his confidence as well.
Hopefully, there's some momentum to build from here. Unfortunately #1 UConn is next on the horizon.

Boeheim on G-Mac
I don't think there was any doubt but for those of you who are worried, Jim Boeheim just said on the Big East conference call that he expected Gerry McNamara back for next Wednesday's game against Connecticut.
“Gerry has a pretty badly bruised thigh, but I think the rest will be good and he’ll be able to come back next week.”
