this is awesome. bush does not care anymore. he will lie to your face and keep on grooving along. so when do the republicans open their eyes?
WASHINGTON - One day after President Bush vowed to reduce America's dependence on Middle East oil by cutting imports from there 75 percent by 2025, his energy secretary and national economic adviser said Wednesday that the president didn't mean it literally.
What the president meant, they said in a conference call with reporters, was that alternative fuels could displace an amount of oil imports equivalent to most of what America is expected to import from the Middle East in 2025.
But America still would import oil from the Middle East, because that's where the greatest oil supplies are.
The president's State of the Union reference to Mideast oil made headlines nationwide Wednesday because of his assertion that "America is addicted to oil" and his call to "break this addiction."
Bush vowed to fund research into better batteries for hybrid vehicles and more production of the alternative fuel ethanol, setting a lofty goal of replacing "more than 75 percent of our oil imports from the Middle East by 2025."
He pledged to "move beyond a petroleum-based economy and make our dependence on Middle Eastern oil a thing of the past."
Not exactly, though, it turns out.
"This was purely an example," Energy Secretary Samuel Bodman said.

What kills me is that anyone can still think this man has any kind of leadership abilities or competance to be president. From the preplanned lies about Iraq, to the catastrophe in New Orleans and the gulf coast, this administration has over and over proven its allegiances lie with their corporate puppetmasters, and they are in no way interested in or capable of defending you or your interests.

This is such a pathetic rant against him. Nehemiah, you can do better than this, can't you? You know what Bush was trying to say: We need to lower our dependence on foreign oil as an energy source, and alternative fuel sources are going to be a factor to our hopeful shift.

Prozac is the drug of choice for all Bush followers, to keep the leemings in line. No dissent, no disagreement, toe the party line no matter how much your conscience says no. And I'm not paranoid, the president already admitted to illegal domestic spying.
Liberty is the currency liberals spend for a "perfect society"
Dude , you really need to start paying attention. Thats such a pathetic moniker from someone who apparently supports a party that promotes breaking the law and illegal domestic spying.
If you really want to learn where your liberties are going look at the patriot act, and other laws this administration has promoted and passed.

I did see them play in denver here a couple months ago, a really great game too, despite the Avs almost coming back and winning.Sabres sure looked amazing the first period here.
I am astounded how people can still believe anything that comes out of the administrations mouth.
There isnt a damn thing they can cite that this president has done right. These people justify anything from lies about WMD's, to violating national security by outing a CIA agent for political reasons, to torture and political appointments of totally incompetent people like Michael Brown as head of FEMA.
And yesterday they passed a budget that bring cuts to Medicaid, Medicare, Student loans, child support funding, foster care funding, all so they can give tax breaks to people who dont need them, and subsidies and welfare to the corporations that prop up his regime. Yeah he's compassionate, right.

From the very outset, starting with their coup in florida in 2000
I think by coup you mean the Florida State Supreme Court unconstitutionally injecting themselves into the election when they had no jurisdiction to do so. The authority, under Florida's constitution, resided in Katherine Harris to facilitate the election, and her decisions should have been final. Why then, did the State Supreme Court get involved? Ohhhh, because it's full of left wing judges who couldn't stand to watch President Bush be elected. Yeah, I think you're confused about the whole coup idea.
P.S. Bush still had more votes than Gore in Florida.

Hydrogen is the only clean, renewable fuel source championed in the president's budget, which proposes $88 million – more than double last year's appropriation – to help make hydrogen fuel available at the pump. A separate request seeks $273 million to speed automotive fuel cell development. All other renewable resources fared poorly: Bioenergy and biorefinery research and development was cut 19 percent, wind energy funding 5.5 percent, and geothermal 4 percent. Support for solar programs remained flat.

And its always better to be on the side of right, when your opposition doesnt have a leg to stand on, and after 5 years doesnt have a record to stand on, unless you want to count a record of lies and deception. :)
Heres a little quote from our esteemed leader for you's to mull on.
"Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires---a wiretap requires a court order.
Nothing has changed, by the way.
When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so.
It's important for our fellow citizens to understand, when you think Patriot Act, constitutional guarantees are in place when it comes to doing what is necessary to protect our homeland, because we value the Constitution."
