State leaders have reached agreement on how to spend about $44 million from the Adelphia Communications fund.
Instead of construction of one new office building, the money will go toward several projects, including reuse of the Aud, two Frank Lloyd Wright projects, the medical campus and the Michigan Avenue historical district.
"Although it is difficult to calculate the exact job creation numbers, it will create well paying research and biotechnology jobs on the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, as well as an estimated 400 jobs created by Bass Pro," Gov. George E. Pataki stated in a draft press release obtained by The Buffalo News. "These enhancements will also have a major impact on tourism dollars coming into the area."
Pataki is ready to announce, as early as today, the final agreement to distribute the remaining state money that was originally intended to aid construction of the never-built Adelphia Communications operations center in downtown Buffalo.
