Buffalo should make sure it gets every dollar it deserves from a proposed land deal that would pave the way for construction of a $45 million downtown office building, Mayor Byron W. Brown said Tuesday.
Businessman Carl P. Paladino's plan to build an 11-story office tower at 50 Court St., between Pearl and Franklin streets, ran into another delay Tuesday. The Common Council called off a scheduled vote on a plan to sell Paladino the city-owned lot for $700,000.
The issue has stirred controversy because the owner of the Liberty Building and Main Place Mall has offered to pay $1.275 million for the land. Main Place-Liberty Group wants to build a 600-vehicle parking garage on the site. Company officials insist downtown needs more parking.
