more proof that women can not really compete with Men in sports. The reason women's sports will never be as popular

If an Womens Olympic team cant beat a boys hockey team, it goes to show how far they still have to go.

Men and women can't compete on the same level.Yes, there are women that are better at sports then men, but there are also men better than women.

Our bodies are to different. Men have a wider frame or something like that....Women don't....

But that still doesn't mean that women sports can't be competitive. Just because some women/leagues aren't on the same level as men doesnt mean they aren't competitive.....

competetive and entertaining are two different things, this game is proof positive why i dont watch womens sports on TV. They can not do things i can not do..NFL, NBA, NHL players can

LOL! The Canadian women's hockey team play boys Midget AAA (15 & 16 year old) teams on a regular basis, because they are competing at about the same level. Competing regularily in exhibition games against opponents that are well-matched is just good coaching...remember that there are probably only @ 50 women in Canada playing at the equivalent ability to boys AAA or above, probably @ 20 in the US.

Rumour has it that the Canadian women's team also play full contact @ once a month against boys Midget AAA teams, but those aren't publicized for obvious reasons. They lose (and win) games against the boys teams on a regular basis, both contact and non-contact, but there's no need for national media attention. They're just 'friendly' tune-up matches to keep them sharp, play backup goalies, evaluate players new to the team, work on introducing new systems/game plans, etc.

There's no shame in playing teams at the same competitive level or losing a hockey game once in a while, especially a 'friendly' like this.

Hockey is hockey...the same skills apply male or female. The boys eventually end up doing these skills all faster, harder and stronger because the combination of the boy's physical size & strength, better level of competition, and coaching at a high level they've been exposed to puts them at a huge advantage. Also, hockey is a means to an end for the boys, as they can make money as a professional player, whereas women's oppourtunities for making money in hockey are limited to summer hockey camps etc.

I've coached both boys and girls teams. My (11 year old) daughter's girls team plays in a boys league (they finally let them in this year) and most of the players/coaches dread playing the two girls teams, because the scores are generally lopsided and they boys can't get the puck out of their end...

West Ferris Conference
GP W L PTS
1 Wendy's 8 6 0 14
2 NB Girls #1 7 5 0 12
3 Lakeview Builders 8 5 2 11
4 NB Girl's #2 8 4 1 11
5 Legion Br 23 8 4 1 11
6 East Side Mario's 8 3 5 6
7 Canadian Tire 8 2 4 6
8 Pizza Hut 8 2 5 5
9 Apple Auto Glass 7 2 4 5
10 Quality Carpet Cleaning 8 1 5 4
11 Gormanville Grocery 8 1 5 4
12 Brook's Tire 6 1 4 3

The girls are better skaters, earlier and are much more coachable than the boys. The difference is agression. With boys it's built-in. With girls, its a behaviour that has to be taught.

Anyway...my point is that you can't make a valid comparasin of high level hockey between the men's and women's game as it is played right now...completely apples to oranges. Check back in 10 years, though...

NB Girl's #2 in boys league play. They play as North Bay 'C' in girls tournaments and just qualified for provincials with a second-place finish (to last year's provincial champs) in a tournament in Midland 2 weeks ago.
They're a minor (all first year) Peewee team that has very strong goaltending & defence. Offence is a problem though, but strangely only against other girl's teams.
