SILVER CREEK - The fifth annual Polar Bear Swim for Charity will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hideaway Bay Restaurant, 42 Lake St.

A chili cook-off, wine tasting, auction, entertainment and refreshments will begin at noon, as organizers gather swim pledges. A $1,000 check has already come from Local 1115, Communications Workers of America, and organizers hope to exceed last year's total of over $5,000.

Swimmers will take a quick dip in the frigid waters of Lake Erie and then warm in a hot tub provided by Aqua Sensations/Hydro Spa of Angola. The event will benefit the Silver Creek Rescue Squad, Sunset Bay Volunteer Fire Department, Silver Creek Food Pantry and the Variety Club, which will donate money to Women & Children's Hospital.

Admission is free, but a nonperishable food item is requested for the Food Pantry. For more information call the Hideaway Bay, 934-44442.
