what purpose does/did it serve?
how often is it closed down (noticed the big signs up on Mile Strip and leading to the skyway on 5)?

it just seems like a way to avoid the tolls on 90/190 when going into downtown buffalo. I'll use it from now on when leaving Bills games (instead of 235 to 190) en route to the peace bridge.

what purpose does/did it serve? It was for large ships being able able to access the Buffalo River back in the day. Now? It's useless and obtrusive.

how often is it closed down (noticed the big signs up on Mile Strip and leading to the skyway on 5)?Not very often and it doesn't really matter. The detour is simple... the last exit before it is Delaware Ave. Go up a block, turn left, go past Channel 7 and Adam's Mark and you're back on right after the Skyway.

I'd assume that it would be much easier for Canadians too as they can pass the Peace Bridge and continue on to the Rainbow Bridge or the Queenston/Lewiston Bridge.

i'll have to time it next bills season to see which way is faster. I imagine getting to 5 from ralph wilson would take a while, but then again 235 with drunk drivers who can't stay in a lane isnt that much fun either.
