If you take his 9 starts and project them over a full season he would have over 2400 yards.

He is a real good back. Holmes can pack his bags.

your thread is a little misleading however. He had more carries than McGahee this year. It's not like he missed much action.

How is it misleading?

BTW
ypc

match the stat with the back

Well, yeah and no. He wouldn't have (and didn't) have that type of production when Willie Roaf and John Welbourn were injured.

There's a reason PH had a lower average than LJ this year, Holmes got the most carries when Wellbourn and Roaf were dinged.

He's a very good back, with great breakaway speed, but when the Chiefs got their running game going well, he's rarely touched for the first 3-5 yards. (his change of direction run against Cinci was really more of an exception for him, rather than the rule. He doesn't need to)

There's a good reason the Chiefs had 3 OL named to the Pro Bowl (and Gonzo is joking that he made the PB this year as a blocker, well deserved IMO). Those guys earned the Rolex's that LJ gave them this year. I can't remember seeing a 35 year old, 325 OT that can move as well in the second level as Willie Roaf. On Sunday, on one of the TD's, he sealed off the left side on a pitch play, then went 10 yards down the field and took out a DB.

Next year, Roaf will be 36, Shields will be 35. Both of them were flirting with retirement this past offseason. One or both could hang it up in 2006.

Willie Roaf kind of hinted at it a few weeks ago, and speculated as to whether Al Saunders would be back. I got the impression that he might not be back if Saunders isn't. Trent Green was a lot more direct about wanting Al Saunders as HC.

Gilchrist, now that the season is over....how do you feel knowing you were wrong about demeaning Larry Johnson with Priest holmes biased posts in this thread?

LJ will be the best back in the NFL next year. And if the Chiefs dont start him they are idioits.
