K Sabres fans.....not like I want this to be the way, but Dom pulled a muscle in his leg (groin?).....I had a feeling this year that this could be a problem for the Sens......they got shelled tonight...biggest loss of their season...I do know that they are the team to beat, but with a possible Hasek injury, our job could be that much more "doable"....thoughts?

The Sabres' problem with Ottawa has not been their goaltending. Two of the ass-kicking the Senators laid on Buffalo have been with Ray Emery in net. This does not make me any more or less confident against Ottawa because the Sabres need to figure out a way to stop Ottawa's scorers first and foremost.

I was at the Sens/Isles game in Ottawa on Friday night. Ottawa's backup goalie, Emery was awful...after DiPietro got knocked out of the game due to injury, Emery made friggin' Garth Snow look good LOL

It's not his groin...it's his back...****....well, even if the Sens are scoring on us, it would be a big blow to not have Dom in their net....I would say that only WITH Dom do they get to the Cup

yeah no surprise there, 40 year old goalies always get hurt during the season. (see: Ed Belfour)

It was only a matter of time! A 41 yr old is bound to get hurt.

Since Ottawa is having a great season they will be patient with Dom and make sure he is 100% for the playoffs. There is no doubt in my mind that he will play and will be the reason they go far. Saying that we can beat them if we improve our team defense and use our speed. The Sens are a highly penalized team and our PP must be on to beat them

emery is capable, he got shelled yesterday but he was thrown in there at the last minute.

Hasek isn't the only injury there. Alfredsson, Bochenski and Havlat are injured as well.

Emery played the whole game on Friday night. He wasn't just 'thrown in there' last night. He's a backup goalie...that's what backup goalies do.
One thing I noticed from the stands on Friday was how much Chara cheats from his D position to go to the front of the net in the offensive zone. Redden does it too, but it's far more obvious with Chara. I think teams are starting to pick up on that & burning them with quick breakouts, especially when Hasek isn't in the net to bail them out when someone gets by. The Sens are a different team without Hasek.

well he wasn't supposed to start D3. he was thrown in there without really expecting it. i know its no excuse but i think Emery is a pretty solid goalie and they can do fine with him for awhile.

how is it a guarantee that ottawa will go far in the playoffs when they fold every time in the first round or early in the playoffs.. Wake up this is what ottawa does.. Sabres are injured to but i'd say we have a chance here..

Ottawa's problem in past playoffs tended to surround their lack of "playoff" size and strength....the extra season has been a different beast...but the new rules tend to favor the faster game of teams like Ottawa and Buffalo....the addition of Hasek with the way he is playing only cements their lock on favorites for the Cup....Yet, in my mind, The Senators defense is still suspect...dont get me wrong, THEY ARE GOOD (Chara is a monster), but they tend to take offensive risks and are vulnerable to breakdowns and odd rushes which makes Dom's worth only greater....I guess only time will tell if the way the game is called changes in the playoffs...if it does, teams like Ottawa and Buffalo could be in trouble whereas a team like (god help me!) The Maple Loafs would bode well...just my two cents

It will be interesting to see if Dom holds up... He has been injury prone the last few years... I wouldn't be surprised if they swung a deal for a goalie with a bit more experience than Emery....

its very possible that hasek tearws his groin again, i agree 7475, ottawa could be in the market for another goalie, i like emery though. Welcome aboard by the way.

I like Emery too....especially if we have to face him in the playoffs...
Seriously though, the drama and what not involved in facing Hasek in the playoffs would be awesome.
