The rest of January's schedule will provide the stiffest test for the Sabres this season and give us a very good idea of where this team realistically can finish in the East. What are your opinions of how the Sabres will do. A split on the road would help us take a lot of the pressure off the team as far as just making the playoffs. It would mean that March and April the Sabres will be playing for positioning instead of just a spot. If we fall on our faces on the road, we should still be in the playoff positioning but surging teams like Atlanta, Toronto and Florida to move closer or past us.
My Prediction:
Unless 1 goalie just goes into the tank, I think Biron and Miller will rotate this month. If a move is made it will not be until the Turin break.
Sabres will take care of business at home with a 3-1 record. I think LA will be our toughest opponent. We have a team that can beat all 6 teams on the road trip. However, just don't see us ripping off another long streak on the road. Our toughest opponents will be Edmonton and Calgary. Both teams are on decent form so I can chalk up a loss and an OT/SO loss. The Thrashers are putting together a good run but we just showed that we can handle their explosive offense. So I say we go 4-1-1 on the roadie and 7-2-1 for the rest of January. That will leave the Sabres record 33-14-3 and 69 points in 50 games. Sabres will still be 4th in the East but will have really solidified their position.
