How nice it would have been to have Danny out there tonight in the ACC....like it or not, this team is missing him...Without him, we are a little bit slower (and we are a fast tem otherwise), he is a no-brainer for the shoot out, he cleans up rebounds (Belfour kicked out a bunch of opportunities)....So today we might find out if it's a hernia with impending surgery (he's scheduled for an exam in Toronto today)....and IF it is a hernia, will put Brier out till the last month of the season...In my opinion, I dont think Buffalo can afford to be without the services of such a talented player....sooner or later, Darcy Rieger is going to have to make a move (i.e., a push for the playoffs)....I heard somewhere that if the Sabres go .500 the rest of the season, they will still end up with 96 points, seemingly securing a spot in the post season, that said...sooner or later, this team will be in need of one or two guys to put this team in a definitive place to do a lot of damage in the playoffs....I see Regier waiting till the Olympic break, watching the NHL guys perform (Olympic hockey is not the NHL...but it does have a "playoff feel" as to who steps up)...I love this team, I miss Briere, and I've smoked too much pot

I agree. If Briere is gone for a long time, Darcy will need to pull the trigger to get in a goalscorer.

I agree also, Biere adds an extra spark to the team.

i know we've played with out breire for a part of the season but i still am scared to think of the sabres playing with out him. For the most part we are still winning but we are defintily not elite with out him and it seems unlikely we will still be winning 75% of our games a month from now w/o him

They've gotten through it without him thus far. If he's back in time for the last month of the season and into the playoffs, there won't be any need to trade for a forward. Dumont will be coming back as well.

Getting help on the back end is really the #1 priority come playoff time. But even then, who know's, Kalinin finds his game by then and all of the sudden we have another top 2 defenseman in our top 4, and we don't have to rely on Fitzy to fill out the 6th or 7th spot.

I think Briere is out for long. Lets ship a goalie and get in a goalscorer

It's looking like a season-ending injury. It's really unfortunate, this looked like a splendid year for him.

This team needs to address his absence, they can only squeak out 1 goal wins for so long.

I'm not sure where another defensmen would fit on this team w/o moving one. Even if we put Fizzy on waivers, we still have 6 solid guys with Kalinin, who WILL hit his stride, it's only a matter of time. I can't see Regier making the kind of splash to bring in a solid top pairing guy when he doesn't have the minutes to support it. You can't bring a guy in like Jovanovski into this lineup without moving someone. We'd need to part with Campbell or Kalinin to make room, or make Teppo or Campbell a 7th man.

I agree....ya know, it might not be a bad idea to move a goalie for a scorer!
